Process Overview*

The Global Banking and Markets [GBAM] Finance seeks to provide first-class support service to its various internal clients with a particular focus on the relationship between trading risk positions and P&L components. We are looking to recruit an individual to work in the Accounting Control Group (ACG) function of GBAM Finance.

Job Description*

Global Markets [GBAM] Finance delivers control functions responsible for providing assurance over data and processes used to record risk, P/L, balance sheet and financial results in support of Global Markets. The ideal candidate will be responsible for running and managing the controls for GBAM Admin and horizontal controls in Global Markets Finance. The role involves control reconciliations, and includes Month-end Journals, Daily PnL Sign-off, Book Maintenance activities and other Daily Control reports.


  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of Global Markets Admin Balance Sheet and P&L; oversight of items in Admin.

  • Manage FX Levelling process for in-scope SubLedger books.

  • Identify Inter-company and Intra-company breaks and drive resolution in collaboration with LOBs.

  • Daily/Monthly Manual General Ledger Postings: Reviewing and approving Manual Adjustments: The team prepares and post various manual adjustments into the General Ledger (primarily Oracle) according to individual procedures.

  • The team is responsible for signing off PnL in Sub ledger for various centralized books such as Loans, FX.

  • Maintain Book Hygiene (Opening/ Closing, SubLedger Mapping): The team is responsible for setting / editing / closing books in various trading / sub ledger systems.

  • Control Reports: ACG produce daily control reports. Ensure consistent accuracy and timeliness of delivery.

  • Constantly review, challenge and improve the overall controls for central reconciliations that impact all other LOBs.

  • Managing audit queries, operational events, Self-identified audit issues (SIAI) etc.,



Accounting/Finance Degree (preferably CA/MBA/CFA or Equivalent Post Graduate in Accounting/Finance

Certifications If Any

Advanced education and/or enhanced technical qualifications are a plus

Experience Range*

8 to 10 years with at least 6+ years’ experience in a Controllership role.

Foundational skills*

  • Strong knowledge of Financial products across Securities and Derivatives.

  • Strong Accounting skills and good understanding of central General Ledger controls and processes.

  • Experience in a Controllership role with exposure to Sub-Ledger and FX Levelling processes, Inter-company break identification and resolution.

  • Self-Learner and be able to perform in-depth analysis to identify issues and provide resolutions.

  • Self-organizing and a motivated individual who can challenge the status quo. Be able to connect the dots and escalate open risks in an appropriate and timely manner.

  • Experience in handling large amount of data to arrive at meaningful analysis and decision making.

Desired skills

  • Knowledge on emerging technologies eg Alteryx/Tableau will be an added advantage.

  • Experience in preparing and maintaining accounting schema for Global Markets trading books.
