Apptware Solutions LLP is looking for a Senior Backend Data Engineer who can work directly with clients to cleanse, transform, and structure data coming from multiple unstructured and semi-structured sources.

This is a data-focused backend role. It is NOT a pure Java/application backend position.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in data engineering, ETL pipelines, and structuring unstructured data, along with good client interaction skills.

Key Responsibilities

Work closely with clients to understand data challenges and business needs

Convert unstructured / semi-structured data (MongoDB, NoSQL, JSON, logs, files) into structured / relational formats

Aggregate data scattered across:

Databases

File storage systems

Internal and external tools

Design and implement repeatable, scalable data pipelines so clients can manage data independently

Perform data cleansing, normalization, and validation

Handle data anonymization, masking or removing PII / PHI data

Deliver clean, structured data for analytics or downstream systems

Collaborate with internal engineering teams to ensure data quality and performance

Mandatory Skills & Experience

4-8 years experience in data engineering or data-focused backend roles

Strong experience with data cleansing, transformation, and structuring

Hands-on experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases

Strong knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.)

Experience building ETL / data pipelines

Exposure to unstructured and semi-structured data

Experience handling PII / PHI anonymization

Backend development experience using Python (preferred) or Node.js / Java

(Java is acceptable only with strong data engineering experience)

Ability to interact confidently with clients and understand real-world data problems

Good to Have

Experience with AWS / GCP / Azure

Exposure to data migration or data warehousing projects

Automation or scripting for data processing
