Axis Banks (BIU): This is a high profile team with a mandate to drive data based decisions within the bank. Reporting into ED, Banking Operations and Transformation, this department works with all businesses of the Bank including retail, small business, corporate and all central functions to drive analytics. In terms of functions, the department has teams focused on all aspects of analytics for the bank including growth analytics, financial crime analytics, business and marketing analytics, building predictive scores, data engineering and business reporting.

About the Role
The person would be a part of the Analytics covering both data science function as well as business analytics lead for corporate center function i.e. Financial crime management, pricing strategy, digital banking, Sparsh and Personalisation. The Analytics team within BIU is responsible for the end-to-end strategy, design/development, execution and performance synthesis. This role reports to Head BIU.
Key Responsibilities:
The candidate will be responsible for the following in his/her job role:
Strategic Leadership:
.Drive the data science team to next level across credit models, propensity models, financial crime management models and collection models
.Generating Business insights by performing root cause analysis leveraging available quantitative/ statistical tools and techniques and recommend actionable strategies across following functions - Financial crime management, digital banking and Sparsh
.Ensure robustness, explainability and regulatory compliance of models (ex. model governance, fairness, bias detection).
.Leading 2 centers of excellence i.e. personlisation and pricing strategy for the bank

Stakeholder Engagement:
.Work cross-functionally with Senior Leaders, technology, strategy and project management teams to identify opportunities and implement impactful projects

.Closely work with core business stakeholders customer engagement, personlisation, digital activation & price optimization strategies for revenue growth

Team management

.Lead a team of 95-100 people with 8-9 Direct reportees
.Continuous learning: Learn new technologies and adopt faster ways to deliver faster for self and for the team
.Attract and retain top talent in data science .

Qualifications:

Masters or Advanced degree (CA/CFA) in a quantitative subject such as Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, Economics or Finance

Strategic Leadership:
.Should have critical thinking to conceptualize the problem, pictorial representation to draw insights and recommend logical strategies

.Should have 15+ years of experience in Analytics domain, preferably in banking industry and deposits product knowledge adds great value to it.
.Team Leadership Experience of 10+ years with great project management skills while working with both internal and external partners

Technology & Infrastructure:
.Hands on experience on analytical tools like SAS /Python, cloud platforms (AWS,Azure), Devops framework like CICD and big data technologies like (Hadoop & Spark)
.Strong understanding of agile principles and tools like JIRA, confluent etc.
.Experience in solving optimization problems specifically on pricing of the products and exposure to tools like DO (Decision optimizer)
.Familiar with Data warehousing concepts like Star Schema and basic data engineering concepts

Data Science & Insights:
.Should have experience in model building if possible in banking
.Should have strong data handling, interpretive and problem-solving skills with the ability to process large volume of transaction level data and efficiently derive actionable results.
.Should be a great storyteller and able to drive the narrative across the senior stakeholders
.Should have a results oriented attitude with go get it done skill
