Senior Accountant

BatteryPool is seeking a skilled Senior Accountant to join our finance team in Pune. This role is pivotal for maintaining precise financial oversight, driving compliance, and supporting strategic growth through investment management and budgeting.

Essential Qualifications:

• CA Inter/Final, M.Com, or B.Com with 3-8 years of relevant accounting experience in a fast-paced environment, preferably in startups
• Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Excel for advanced functions like financial modeling; Word for reporting)
• Hands-on experience with Tally 9 (or later versions) highly preferred; familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., Zoho Books) a plus
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to liaise with customers, vendors, investors, and external stakeholders
• Proactive mindset, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team
• Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical problem-solving capabilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive Tally data entry, including sales invoices, purchase orders, receipts, payments, bank reconciliation statements, and preparation of debtors/creditors ageing reports
• Receive, verify, and process all invoices, expense forms, and payment requests, ensuring timely approvals and disbursements
• Maintain accurate accounting records, including document filing, copying, and archival, in compliance with best practices
• Ensure full statutory compliance for deducted/collected taxes, including GST (returns, reconciliations), TDS (deductions, challans), and Profession Tax
• File monthly/quarterly returns for e-TDS, GST, and Profession Tax via government portals
• Manage account balancing by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions; investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly
• Oversee investments and inflows: Track and record all funding inflows (e.g., equity investments, grants, loans), monitor investment portfolios, prepare investor reports, and ensure accurate capitalization of funds in financial statements
• Lead budgeting and forecasting: Develop annual budgets, monthly cash flow forecasts, and variance analysis reports; collaborate with operations and leadership to align budgets with EV fleet expansion goals and optimize resource allocation

  Summarize financial status through preparation of balance sheets, profit & loss statements, cash flow reports, and other management accounts
• Oversee payroll processing: initiate computations, generate payslips/checks, verify outputs, and handle statutory deductions
• Facilitate external audits by analyzing general ledger accounts, scheduling reviews, and providing detailed documentation and explanations to auditors
