What will you be doing? (Aka Responsibilities)

As a finance manager in an FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) startup, your role would encompass a broad range of financial management and leadership responsibilities. Heres a job description that outlines the key aspects of the position:

1. Financial Planning and Strategy: Developing financial plans, budgets, and strategies aligned with the startups overall objectives. Conducting financial analysis to identify growth opportunities, cost-saving measures, and risk mitigation strategies.

2. Financial Reporting and Analysis: Overseeing the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Analyzing financial data to provide insights into the startups financial performance and making recommendations for improvement.

3. Budget Management: Managing the budgeting process, working closely with department heads to establish budgetary targets and monitor actual performance against budgeted figures. Identifying areas of variance and collaborating with stakeholders to address deviations and optimize financial resources.

4. Financial Operations: Ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and treasury functions. Implementing internal controls and procedures to safeguard company assets and maintain compliance with financial regulations.

5. Financial Forecasting and Risk Assessment: Conducting financial forecasting and scenario analysis to anticipate future financial trends and risks. Assessing the startups financial risks and developing strategies to mitigate them, such as managing cash flow, credit risks, and foreign exchange exposure.

6. Investment Evaluation: Evaluating investment opportunities, conducting financial feasibility studies, and providing recommendations on potential acquisitions, partnerships, or new product lines. Assessing the financial viability of projects and estimating their return on investment (ROI).

7. Team Leadership and Development: Managing and mentoring a team of finance professionals, providing guidance and support in their day-to-day activities. Facilitating professional growth and development opportunities within the finance department.

8. Stakeholder Management: Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including operations, marketing, and sales, to align financial goals and strategies. Providing financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making at both operational and strategic levels.

9. Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and tax requirements. Keeping abreast of changes in financial regulations and implementing necessary adjustments to maintain compliance.

10. Continuous Improvement: Driving process improvements and implementing best practices within the finance function. Identifying opportunities to enhance financial systems, tools, and reporting methodologies to streamline processes and increase efficiency.

Is this you? (aka Must Haves)

• MBA Finance or CA Certified
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in finance and accounting, with at least 1 years in a managerial role.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions.
• In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proficiency in financial analysis tools and software, such as Microsoft office, Oracle, and ERP systems
• Start Up experience is must.
