Head of Securities Services MENAT

As part of Markets & Securities Services (MSS), Securities Services provides investor services to some of the worlds largest asset managers, asset owners, banks and broker dealers. These services connect our clients and their investors to investment opportunities, making Securities Services an essential part of the infrastructure that supports international capital flows. Our global team operates in 37 countries and territories, and services thousands of clients around the world.
Role purpose
The Regional Head Securities Services MENA (excluding Saudi Arabia) will be responsible for all facets of the Securities Services business in their region with functional oversight and management of countries within that region. They will own, drive and execute the business agenda aligning to the business strategy and ambitions with the wider priorities of the region.
The Regional Head Securities Services MENA (excluding Saudi Arabia) will collaborate, consult and influence a host of on-shore and off-shore stakeholders across the MSS Business including MSS Heads, MSS Functions (Operations, COO, NFR) as well as broader regional and country stakeholders.
Being the ambassador of the Securities Services business, the Regional Head should enhance the profile within HSBC as well as in the external local market. This would include market advocacy, thought leadership, engagement with regulators and market infrastructure to drive market changes, enhancement of industry standards, alignment with international and best practices, foreign investor access and more.
This role will locally report to the MENA Markets & Securities Services Business Head and functionally report to the Regional Head Securities Services ASP & MENA. The working location for this position is HSBC Tower, Dubai, UAE.
Principal accountabilities
Securities Services regional strategy
Responsible for the execution of the Securities Services strategy across the region; ensuring alignment with broader MSS client sector and function strategies. Identify and factor the local market intelligence, market, industry and regulatory developments, trends and client feedback into the strategy. Align on the areas for prioritisation such as market growth trends and client drivers, and ensure that this shapes the strategic output.
Business performance
Lead the revenue and cost management discipline for the country. Agree annual operating plan targets in collaboration and alignment within the Securities Services Product and Function teams. Accountable for resource and budget management at the regional and country level.
Client development, marketing and enhancing Securities Services profile
In collaboration with Institutional Sales, Client Management and Product Enablement, formalise the marketing, client relationship, visitation and market advocacy plans for the year. Develop and maintain relationships with key senior individuals in relevant industry bodies, client and potential client organisations, consultants, competitor organisations, and appropriate other third parties such as regulators and market participants. Enhance understanding of Securities Services in other businesses to bring more to clients, both existing and prospective, as well as identify new revenue opportunities.

Own, drive and influence the people agenda for all Securities Services staff in the region. Be accountable for the people strategy to ensure that we have the right talent and resources to achieve the business ambitions.
Product management
In sync with local developments, trends and client feedback, collaborate with Product Management to define and agree the Product and Technology Roadmap for the region. This includes both region and country-specific product and/or accelerating global product roll-out in the country. Take accountability for execution of the agreed product initiatives. Actively govern the progress and provide constructive challenge and support to change requests.
Operational excellence
In consultation with MSS Operations and the Product/Asset Classes, agree the Operational Efficiency initiatives including automation, risk mitigation, enhanced client experience and headcount, cost reduction and capacity numbers. In collaboration with the Regional MSS Operations lead, ensure delivery of the agreed Operational Excellence targets. Identify process and capacity improvement opportunities for your countries that directly impact clients and help address efficiency and operational risk drivers.
Risk and conduct
Manage the business risk in a virtual organisation and ensure the right balance and engagement with different functions, in particular MSS Operations. Foster a culture that supports high awareness and compliance with relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures. Own all financial and non-financial risks associated with the Securities Services business in the region and country, ensuring that local specific risks are adequately identified and managed. Ensure adequate oversight and governance of risk and control environment, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
Experience, skills and qualifications
- Experience in leading and managing a securities services business, a product or a sales function or similar leadership experience.
- Experience in the fund administration arena, given the product initiatives that are aligned to Securities Services global strategy.
- Experience in all aspects of business management, including people development, client management, product, business planning, financials, marketing, and risk management.
- Experience in operating in the Middle East and a strong understanding of the MENA region, including competitive, regulatory and other relevant industry trends.
- Strong knowledge and awareness of Securities Services products, target client segments and linkages into other business lines.
- Collaborative approach to working in a matrix environment involving Client Sector, Sales, global product heads, global functions and local HSBC structures.
- Strong stakeholder management experience at local and regional level.
- Able to work in a pressurized environment, manage priorities and be a good collaborator and team player.
- Results oriented with a strong track record of execution and delivery.
- Graduation degree is a must to secure a UAE visa and work permit.
