Job Description
- Role Overview:
You will be leading and managing a team of software engineers in the Smalltalk space, ensuring successful delivery of projects within agreed timelines and quality standards. You will participate in technology project teams, interact with various stakeholders, and take ownership and accountability for your work and the work of the team. Adhering to project management methodology and standards is crucial, along with contributing towards defining timelines and project plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of software engineers in the Smalltalk space to ensure successful project delivery.
- Participate in technology project teams and interact effectively with stakeholders.
- Take ownership and accountability for your work and the work of the team.
- Adhere to project management methodology and standards.
- Contribute towards defining timelines and project plans.
- Generate technical assessments, develop solution alternatives, evaluate options, and provide recommendations for efficient and cost-effective solutions.
- Develop and execute test scenarios and test cases for unit and integration testing.
- Deliver quality solutions for new and existing applications while adhering to software development best practices.
- Collaborate effectively with third-party vendors as required.
- Participate in on-call production support and ensure full compliance with all IT policies and procedures.
- Mentor developers within the department and approved consulting teams.
Qualification Required:
- Minimum of 3 to 8 years of application development experience.
- Required skills include Smalltalk, HTML, and XML.
- Additional desired skills include S-unit, Java, Websphere, RAD, MQSeries, Oracle, DB2, and SQL.

- Design, implement, and maintain object-oriented software systems using Smalltalk.
- Ability to work independently with little oversight and work in complex systems on multiple platforms.
- Strong technical knowledge and experience with system integration and modernization.
- Demonstrated technical leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong debugging and testing skills with a focus on quality deliverables.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and multitasking skills.
- Confidence in working in a fast-paced environment and willingness to work off-hours when needed.
- Experience with industry-standard software development methodologies, ITIL, and ITSM.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent required; insurance background is a plus.,
