State Recruitment Process
Interview Process
Indicative process. The company does not publish its hiring process, so the steps below are compiled from publicly reported candidate experiences and placement sources. Rounds vary by role, experience level, campus and year – treat this as a guide, not a guarantee, and confirm current details with the company.
SBI’s flagship graduate entry is the Probationary Officer (PO) exam, run in three phases:
Phase 1 – Preliminary examination: Online objective test of 100 marks covering English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability, with sectional timing. This phase is qualifying only – marks do not count towards the final merit list.
Phase 2 – Main examination: An objective test of 200 marks (Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis & Interpretation, General/Economy/Banking Awareness, English Language) plus a descriptive test of 50 marks (letter writing and essay).
Phase 3 – Psychometric test, group exercise and interview: The psychometric test is qualifying; the group exercise carries 20 marks and the personal interview 30 marks.
Final merit is calculated as 75% from the Main examination and 25% from the group exercise and interview. Clerical (Junior Associate) and specialist officer recruitment run as separate exams with their own patterns.
