University Of Sharjah

The University of Sharjah was established as a non-profit institution for higher education in October 1997 by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University. UoS is a comprehensive academic institution with a distinctive learning style and a global vision. It is a pioneer in academia, scientific research and the arts in the UAE and the GCC region. UoS has almost 14,325 students representing 96 nationalities and 656 full-time faculty. Our university takes pride in being a major international center for learning, culture and education. The University employs renowned faculty from around the world and hosts a significant number of international students. It also sends its students to various international destinations on internship programs and accepts many visiting international students. This unique mix of cultures and nationalities helps student expand their horizons and learn from the individual uniqueness of the diverse student body and faculty. UoS is licensed and its programs are accredited by the Commission for Academic Accreditation of the Ministry of Education's Higher Education Affairs Division in the United Arab Emirates. All engineering programs are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET http://www.abet.org/. The Bachelor of Science degree programs in computer science, IT & multimedia, chemistry, mathematics and biotechnology are accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET http://www.abet.org/. (applied science branch) All the programs in the college of communication are accredited by ACEJMC (Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communication) The College of Business Administration is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
