Job Description

A leading manufacturing company in Bangalore is looking for a Head-Business Excellence.

Position Summary
The Head of Business Excellence will lead continuous improvement, operational excellence, and sustainability initiatives across the organization. This role will oversee TPM, EHS, EMS, and IMS functions, driving efficiency, compliance, and cultural transformation. The incumbent will be responsible for building a high-performance culture through Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and Total Productive Maintenance methodologies while ensuring environmental, health, safety, and quality standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
Business Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Lead Business Excellence initiatives across manufacturing and support functions to improve productivity, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Identify, design, and implement process improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and other best practices.
- Establish KPIs, dashboards, and scorecards to track organizational performance and improvement opportunities.
- Drive digital transformation in manufacturing operations.
- Mentor and coach teams to embed a continuous improvement mindset across the organization.
World Class Lean Enterprise Model:
- Develop and implement a Lean Enterprise framework across all functions to build a culture of excellence and agility.
- Integrate Lean principles, Six Sigma tools, Kaizen, and TPM into day-to-day operations.
- Establish Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and process re-engineering initiatives to eliminate waste and optimize flow.
- Drive cross-functional improvement projects to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve quality.
- Build internal capability by training and certifying employees in Lean, Six Sigma, and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Benchmark performance against world-class manufacturing standards and adopt best practices from global leaders.
- Promote a "Do it right the first time" and "Zero Losses" mindset across the organization.
TPM (Total Productive Maintenance)
- Drive TPM implementation to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and increase Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Ensure strong focus on autonomous and preventive maintenance programs.
- Facilitate root cause analysis (RCA) for major breakdowns and drive corrective and preventive actions.
- Build a zero breakdown / zero defect culture through employee training and engagement.
EHS (Environment, Health & Safety)


- Establish and monitor EHS policies, standards, and compliance frameworks.
- Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and emergency preparedness drills.
- Ensure compliance with statutory safety and environmental regulations.
- Build and sustain a zero-incident, safety-first culture across the workforce.
- Implement waste management, hazardous material handling, and pollution control initiatives.
EMS (Environmental Management System)
- Lead the implementation of ISO 14001 EMS framework.
- Monitor and optimize energy, water, waste, and emission management.
- Drive sustainability and green initiatives across the plant.
- Coordinate with statutory authorities for environmental compliance and certifications.
IMS (Integrated Management System)
- Implement and integrate QMS, EMS, OHSMS, and Energy Management (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 50001) into a unified system.
- Lead internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with international standards.
- Develop governance mechanisms for continuous monitoring and improvement of the IMS framework.
- Train employees on IMS processes, policies, and awareness programs.
Sustainability Initiatives:
- Drive the company's sustainability roadmap aligned with global best practices.
- Promote initiatives for carbon footprint reduction, renewable energy adoption, circular economy, and resource optimization.
- Partner with R&D and operations to integrate sustainability into product design and manufacturing processes.
- Build ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) compliance and reporting frameworks.
Customer Quality and Customer Complaint Handling:
- Establish a customer-focused quality management system ensuring zero-defect deliveries.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for customer complaints.
- Drive a culture of "first-time-right" in manufacturing and operations.

- Collaborate with customers for audits, feedback sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor customer satisfaction scores and implement action plans to enhance experience.

- Expertise in Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, TPM, and TQM.
- Strong knowledge of EHS, EMS, IMS, and ISO standards.
- Proven track record in digital transformation & process automation.
- Ability to drive TPM, sustainability, and customer quality programs.

- Strong in RCA, problem-solving, and decision-making under pressure.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's / master's in mechanical, Industrial, or Production Engineering (preferred).
- Preferred Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
- Certified Lead Auditor in ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 (ISO 50001 preferred).
- 15+ years of experience in Business Excellence / Operational Excellence within machine manufacturing or heavy engineering industries, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
