Job Description
Role : Associate Director - Sustainable Finance
Location :Dubai
Role Purpose:
The role encompasses building WBG’s sustainable finance assets and enhancing the banks capabilities in the sustainable finance space. This will involve:
- Originate and structure sustainable finance solutions for clients
- Establish, coordinate and lead origination strategies for specific sectors across WBG clients
- Build ESG knowledge within the team and maintain a database of key transactions, structures, KPIs, etc.
- Maintain engagement with large corporate clients, government entities, other banks, external lawyers, project managers, sustainability consultants/advisors, etc.
Key Accountabilities of the role
Origination:
- Prepare sustainable financing marketing materials and pitch-books to facilitate business opportunities and promotion of the bank’s sustainable finance credentials
- Achieve financial performance targets individually set and contribute to the team’s budgeted business target
- Maintain strong internal relations and collaborate with coverage and ESG teams to maximize business development opportunities
Execution:
- Closely working with clients, coverage teams, 3^rd party service providers (SPO providers and consultants), and banks to structure sustainable finance solutions meeting the requirement of all the parties.
- Negotiate sustainable finance terms and conditions.
- Develop sustainable finance materials to support transactions
- Review feasibility reports, environmental reports and other related due diligence reports
- Lead discussions with credit and risk on specific ESG risks and sustainable finance transactions approvals
Capacity Development:
- Prepare ESG training material for frontline staff to disseminate sustainable finance knowledge, including but not limited to products, market trends, regulations, and standards
Operating Environment, Framework and Boundaries, Working Relationships
- Support the CFIB head in achieving WBG objectives

- Ability to work with clients, lawyers, and other banks’ Sustainable Finance teams independently
Problem Solving
- In addition to possessing the necessary product skill set, the incumbent needs to have a high degree of maturity in handling critical negotiations with clients, banks, and other 3^rd party service providers, including external legal counsels, rating agencies, consulting & accounting firms, etc.
Specialist Skills / Technical Knowledge Required for this role:
- In-depth knowledge and proven track record of 5 to 7 years of sustainable finance in a major commercial/investment bank/ ESG consulting firm. Overall experience in banking of circa 10 years
- Experience in applying sustainable finance principles, mechanisms, and rating methodologies, including but not limited to sustainable and sustainability-linked loans/bonds
- Monitor the developing and diverse set of standards across sustainable finance, including the risks and avoidance of Greenwashing
- Ability to engage a diverse group of stakeholders to deliver at pace and build a trusted advisor relationship with working partners
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
