Job Purpose & Key Responsibilities

Purpose:

We are looking for a committed Lithium-ion battery electrode fabrication Engineer, the aspirants should have widespread knowledge and experience, specifically in Li-ion battery from lab level to production level. The candidates will work under the direction of the group lead with the primary role development of the prototypes of the Li-ion batteries and scaling those into production level.

Key Responsibilities

1. Perform all electrode fabrication operations such as mixing, coating, calendaring and slitting. Take ownership of electrode fabrication operations.
2. Assist in the specification, procurement and qualification of equipment including lab, pilot, and manufacturing plants
3. Improve/modify processes to allow integration of advanced materials into battery cell designs
4. Create detailed work instructions and train technicians on operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
5. Provide technical guidance and hands-on support for all aspects of electrode fabrication processes including mixing, slurry delivery systems, conveyance, web handling, coating, and drying, calendaring and slitting.
6. Work with Product Engineering to ensure manufacturing and design requirements are compatible
7. Conduct Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and develop execution plans for solutions for both designs and processes
8. Accurately forecast task and project timelines to execute project plans
9. Manage inventory of chemicals, powders, foils, cell components.
10. Collaborate effectively with the cross-functional teams and lead the project to successful completion

Education:

1. B. Tech in Chemical engineering (Only B.Tech Qualification)
2. 2+ years of experience electrode fabrication operations related to cylindrical/prismatic/pouch cell fabrication Capable of working in R&D and production line and working in the low humidity-controlled environment (dry room).

Preferred

1. Experience with mixing, coating, calendaring and slitting.
2. Knowledge of lithium-ion battery materials and performance metrics
3. Knowledge on Six sigma methodology
4. Engineering process experience (other industries also welcome)
5. Knowledge of AI/ML and Big Data Mining and Analytics
6. Knowledge on Python programming, MATLAB
7. Knowledge on 2D 3D CAD
