About The Role:
- Category Managers at Amazon have end to end responsibility of the customer experience and growth of the category they have been assigned to. Amazon strives to present its customers with the widest selection of products at the best prices.
- The Category manager's role is to bring in the relevant assortment, design targeted promotions, manage partners including sellers and brands.
- Category managers anticipate customer needs and incorporate them into the functional road map and will drive a major change or enhancement for customer experience influencing category needs based on their knowledge of competitive trends in the marketplace and other macro environment data.
- The successful candidate for this high impact role will be a self-starter with a passion for independent, creative problem-solving, have proven data analysis skills, demonstrate great "voice" and content creation chops (i.e. strong writing skills), show strong ownership and commitment, have proven leadership experience in managing projects, and bring relevant insights in marketing and merchandising.
Key Responsibilities:
- Category Strategy:
- Brand Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and suppliers within the Consumables category.
- Product Assortment: Optimize product assortment to meet customer needs and drive sales.
- Pricing Strategy: Develop and implement competitive pricing strategies to maximize profitability.
- Promotions and Marketing: Plan and execute promotional activities and marketing campaigns to increase category visibility and drive sales.
- Data Analysis: Analyze sales data and market trends to identify growth opportunities and address challenges.
- Inventory Management: Optimize inventory levels to ensure product availability while minimizing costs.
Basic Qualifications:
- 2+ years of Excel experience.
- 2+ years of retail, operations, product or program management, or business management/consulting with negotiations and delivering results experience.
- Bachelor's degree and MBA, or 3+ years of professional experience.
- Experience with financial analysis and P&L ownership.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience managing large data sets and utilizing to drive performance and process improvements.
- Experience in vendor negotiations, pricing and promotion, inventory management, and product development.
