Software Development Engineer, Amazon Devices Demand Planning

Amazon makes and sells Echo, Kindle, Fire TV, Fire Tablet, Ring, Blink, Eero, among other devices. It is critical that Amazon makes the right amount of each device available for purchase.
Amazon is looking for a customer obsessed software engineer to join the Amazon Devices Demand Planning team. Our work impacts Amazons device business by forecasting demand and managing supply for all Amazon Devices. We are a growing team that continuously improves our delivery of these forecasts to our customers. We are looking for an engineer who is a technical leader and ready for challenges, with an interest in ML and LLMs.
Key job responsibilities
We will work together on defining and building features in multiple core services, and user applications. You will work with other engineers to drive systems architecture, write code, participate in reviews, and continuously improve our software development practices. We will make hard decisions, learn from our mistakes, and continuously improve by diving deep into data and metrics to identify opportunities. We will leverage Amazons Native AWS infrastructure to build systems and design algorithms that are able to handle large amounts of data. We will design systems that handle huge amounts of data. We solve hard, real world problems with industry best practices where they exist and our own best judgement to forecast demand so that we can guide decision makers on the greater Amazon Devices team.

About the team
We are a results-oriented team who rapidly build flexible, scalable, and high-quality software systems that allow us to (1) retrieve, curate, store and vend high quality inputs to demand forecasting, (2) allow/manage the development of plans of record to enable/support business decisions, (3) vend demand plans of records for various use cases per needs and constraints, (4) automate to make demand forecasting and planning hands off the wheel, and (5) use AI/LLM technologies to navigate demand signals and automate planning so that our business stakeholders can focus on higher judgement decisions.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
