Job Description
Function Description:
Legal Entity Reporting Centre of Excellence is responsible for delivering on local Statutory Reporting and management of Statutory Audit for multiple legal entities across the International markets.
Purpose of the Role:
- This is a people leadership role that will also assist the Director in critical initiatives.
- Responsible for preparation and coordination of Legal Entity Statutory & Regulatory reports and accompanying documents and coordination with the Legal Entity Controllers before filing with authorities within prescribed timelines.
- Primary co-ordination point for Auditors during external audits, ensuring that full analysis and explanations are provided to enable a clean audit opinion and Legal Entity Board approval
- Support the Legal Entity Controller achieve the local statutory and regulatory filing objectives
- Responsible for adherence to all local Statutory Authorities timelines and Reporting requirements through preparation, review and submission of local reports. These include annual financial statements, Financial Accounting Book (FAB), regulatory reports to the local Regulatory Authorities, as applicable.
- Coordinate with Legal Entity Controllership team, and other business partners to ensure financial reports are complete and accurate.
- Ensure that all reporting issues are identified, managed and tracked to conclusion
- Maintain and control accuracy of information extracted from prime records into financial reports and ensure a fully audited reconciliation from USGAAP ledger to local GAAP report.
- Ensure adequate controls, documentation and audit trails.
- Coordinate with the Legal Entity Controllership team to maintain up-to-date understanding of all Regulatory and Statutory Reporting requirements including potential regulatory changes to assess impact and proactively plan for implementation of changes.
- Coordinate with GFO and other functions to provide external audit support.
- Ensure Secondary Ledger, HFM and Workiva implementation for statutory, regulatory and board reporting in place.
- Responsibility for understanding and implementing regulatory or policy driven changes in reporting requirements.
- Regular communication to Legal Entity Controllership, business partners and customers on Statutory Reporting and audit process requirements
- Demonstrate ownership of the external audit process to ensure that all required information is provided on time and that issues are quickly resolved.
- Strong Stakeholder Management including ensuring that all stakeholders are updated on Statutory Reporting and audit process requirements risks and timelines
- Proactively drive opportunities for process improvements through ongoing review of processes / methods of data collection and report preparation to create efficiencies and eliminate non-value add work.
- Ability to respond & lead changes in reporting requirements through strong partnership with the Legal Entity Controllers.
- Public Accounting/audit experience (Preferably Big 4)
- Minimum 6 years post qualification finance experience.
- Qualified Accountant, CA/CPA
- Ability to collaborate across geographies in a matrix structure and deliver on customer expectations
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proven People Leadership Skills including developing staff.
- Project / Change Management experience along with transition management
- Proactive approach in identifying, escalating, reporting and resolving statutory reporting issues
- Presentation and articulation of statutory reporting requirements to local entity Controller.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve issues and track to conclusion.
- Sets own goals in line with critical regulatory and statutory reporting activities.
- Ability to respond to questions relating to statutory reporting requirements and local statutory accounts
- Strong accounting background and experience in accounting, statutory / regulatory reporting, or statutory auditing
- Advanced knowledge of IFRS GAAP and reporting requirements
- Good understanding of US GAAP and other GAAP is advantageous
- Ability to articulate statutory reporting requirements to key Controller and customers.

- In depth knowledge of AXP Policies, Procedures and Systems. Knowledge of HFM and Workiva will be a plus
- Proficiency in MS-Office applications, Essbase/analytical software, Oracle.
