Job Title: Director of Data Engineer

Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka

What you will do:

• Unified Data Strategy: Architect and implement a modern, unified data platform (e.g., Lakehouse architecture) capable of handling massive volumes of transactional, streaming, and analytical data.
• Semantic & Governance Layer: Design and champion a headless semantic API and unified catalog system (e.g., Unity Catalog) to enable self-serve analytics while maintaining strict data consistency across the enterprise.
• High-Availability Pipelines: Build resilient, low-latency data ingestion and processing frameworks utilizing cutting-edge streaming and batch technologies.
• Cost & Performance Optimization: Establish benchmarks, monitoring, and architectural standards to continuously optimize data processing costs and storage efficiency at scale.
• AI-Driven Data Operations: Integrate AI into the data engineering lifecycle to automate metadata tagging, anomaly detection, root-cause analysis, and self-healing data pipeline orchestration.
• Data Privacy for AI: Implement governance frameworks specifically for AI, ensuring that data feeding LLMs and ML models strictly adheres to strict financial privacy boundaries, compliance, and synthetic data generation rules.
• Influence & Strategy: Author technical RFCs, whitepapers, and architectural blueprints. Guide organizational decision-making and align infrastructure with corporate OKRs.
• Mentorship: Act as a force multiplier by mentoring senior and lead engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous innovation.
• Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner closely with Product, DevOps, Risk, Data Science, and Core Infrastructure teams to ensure the data platform seamlessly unblocks downstream capabilities.

Who you are:

• 8 -10+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing technical teams.
• Experience building and optimizing big data data pipelines, architectures, and data sets
• Experience with big data tools: Spark, Flink, Kafka, Airflow, etc
• Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including Postgres and Cassandra
• Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement
• SQL, Python, Spark, Kafka, Big Data / Cloud DWH
• Work closely with Principal Engineers to design, implement and deploy applications that impact Angel Ones business with an emphasis on Trading platforms and Analytics.
• Further, design, organize PB scale Data Warehouse, analyze TB scale real-time data daily.
