Job Summary
Provide Patent Validity search and analysis, Product in-licensing evaluation for Third party API, Finished Dosage form / Biosimilar or Peptide molecules; Patentability assessment and Portfolio Management; Patent and Literature support to Internal GIP colleagues and External Agents by managing all related documentation and correspondings with appropriate stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform prior art search to assess the novelty and/or obviousness of the patent for supporting patent invalidation which includes searches using various databases, identifying the prior arts, analysing the relevant prior art and preparing report.
- Prepare summary reports or patent landscape reports for the new molecules and to timely update the PLR (Patent and Literature Review) reports of existing molecules.
- Coordinate the filing of patent applications for R&D in a timely manner, meeting all required deadlines, and correspondences with Patent Offices/Law firms and agents regarding the same.
- Ensure on-going record maintenance and renewal of patents.
- Prepare report for in-licensing products which includes searches using various databases in the countries of interest, identifying the prior arts, analysing the relevant prior art for the specific country/market of interest and preparing the risk assessment summary in support to due diligence within stipulated timeline to support on-time product launch.
- Provide clearance report for API / Finished dosage form / Biosimilar or peptide molecules prepared in-house or procured from a third party with in-depth analysis on process, KSM, intermediates, polymorph, impurities, composition or formulation and involve in active interaction with the R&D scientists.
- Work as a member of a team to achieve all outcomes.

Job Requirements
- Education
- Pharm. or M.Sc. Chemistry, preferably with a PG Diploma in Patent Law is beneficial.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Preferably, a Registered Patent agent with the Indian Patent office and familiar with patent laws of US, EP and India.
- Familiarity with patent and literature search related to API, Formulation & Biosimilar products and knowledge of databases such as Questel Orbit, SciFinder, STN and other regional databases.
- Experience
- 4-6 years of experience in intellectual Property related procedures are critical.
