Job Purpose:
Argus is a leading provider of insights, price indexes and consulting to the global energy industry. Companies in 140 countries as well as multilaterals like the International Energy Agency (IEA) use Argus data to index physical trade and as benchmarks in financial derivative markets as well as for analysis and planning purposes.
We also have a burgeoning commodities markets consulting division that offers clients insights into the evolving markets and the opportunities that these changes present. This division uses industry best practices, expert knowledge and Argus’ proprietary data to provide its clients with in-depth market analysis, the development of business strategies, evaluation of capital projects and advise on operations across a wide range of commodities and geographies. The division counts the biggest names in energy, petrochemicals, fertilizers and metals as well as governments as its clients.
Given that our consulting business has been growing significantly over the last few years and we are currently looking for an analyst to join our consulting research team in Mumbai that would focus on multiple sectors including but not limited to gen fuels, crude/products, biofuels, energy transition, LPG, fertilizers and other domains. The specifics of the job are laid out below.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and research trends and policies on a range of products.
- Identify emerging trends and develop an understanding of the global market fundamentals.
- Execution of multi-client products and analytics.
- Develop and maintain databases, in-house consulting tools, models, and other tools to support analysis, forecasting, and decision-making in consulting projects.
- Monitor and track regulatory developments and policy changes at the local, national, and international levels.
- Produce high-quality reports, presentations, and other materials to communicate research findings and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensuring that the quality of the product meets Argus’ standards.
- Assist in the development of marketing materials for Argus’ research product
- Development of project management skills.
- Develop research and analytical capabilities.
- Exposure to a wide range of energy and commodities markets.
- Good career path within Argus’ consulting practice.
- Enthusiasm for analyzing both traditional and emerging areas across a diverse range of commodities.
- Interest in the acquisition of new skills and knowledge
- Able to function effectively in a team.
- Able to absorb and analyse information in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent research skills. Able to develop methodologies and carry out projects under the supervision of a senior consultant.
- Familiarity with the functioning of commodity exchanges and/or experience in the sector would be a plus.

- Skilled in Microsoft Office, including MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and a keen willingness to learn other tools.
- Have a faculty for communication.
- Experience with working with teams and drawing upon resources across the organization.
- Candidates with around two years of experience would be ideal. However, enthusiastic fresh graduates are welcome to apply.

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday; 09:00-18:00 with 1 hour for lunch.
