What Were Looking For
The reporter, oil products and biofuels, will cover news on Indias refined oil products markets, refineries and biofuel policies to support India-specific price assessments, working closely with our London and Singapore editorial teams. He/she is expected to be the first point of contact for Indias refined products news, refinery outages, biofuel policies, supporting coverage of LPG, LNG and other energy markets as required including sustainable aviation fuel initiatives. The candidate will be responsible for driving on-the-ground coverage from India by maintaining and expanding the contact base, attending key conferences/events in India, and collaborating effectively with Argus global offices for India-specific content.
The candidate should possess good writing, numerical skills, plus basic computing skills. Familiarity with global crude oil, oil products, petrochemicals, coal, freight and/or forward markets is a must.
What Will You Be Doing
- Report on refined oil products, and biofuels (including SAF) policies with a focus on markets, trading and supply & demand fundamentals specific to the Indian market
- Work closely with Argus Singapore and London offices to support and where applicable assess India-specific price assessments adhering to rigorous compliance standards
- Produce a wide range of content, including breaking news, in-depth features and deep-dive analyses with graphs and charts within Excel to illustrate trends
- Act as a thought-leader attending conferences and giving presentations to showcase Argus market insights
- Develop and maintain rapport with key contacts within the industry and government agencies, and liaise regularly with industry stakeholders (buyers, sellers, traders, brokers) to gain market intelligence
- Maintain existing databases and build new databases for designated products.
- Provide subject-matter expertise to other Argus departments e.g. consulting, analytics & research
- At least 3-5 years of reporting experience at a recognised publication
- High degree of understanding of the global energy markets, especially oil and gas
- Ability to develop, source and write industry relevant news to deadline
- Excellent writing, grammar and numeracy skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to network and build contacts with industry executives
- Ability to work effectively with management and meet targets in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment
- Strong co-ordination and time management skills
- Additional languages useful but not essential
- Proficiency/experience working with Excel/Excel-based business tools
- Experience of working to strict deadlines
- Ability to work with minimum supervision within a team structure.
- Self-motivated, confident and results driven individual
- Highly organised to manage own workload and efficiently meet targets

This is a full-time position operating under a hybrid model, with three days in the office and two days working remotely. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 09:00 to 18:00, with a one-hour lunch break.
