Site Reliability Engineer-Data Visualization

Position overview:

Looking for a candidate, passionate about data and virtualization. This Role will work closely with Operations teams and Vendors to ensure stable Denodo platform. We are seeking an independent worker who has a growth mind set and is willing to work in cross-functional environment.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide Subject Matter Expertise on all aspects of Denodo, including development and code review of views by working alongside engineering teams.

2. Perform frequent minor (and as needed, major) version upgrades and patching of Denodo Platform application servers installed in Linux and hosted in AWS Cloud.

3. Administration of Linux servers in AWS that host the Denodo platform.

4. Review and fix any security vulnerabilities in the infrastructure hosting Denodo Platform.

5. Ensure reliability, security and privacy aspects are maintained across infrastructure and Denodo Platform components and ensure full compliance on all internal audits.

6. Develop new automation and self-service capabilities around data virtualization.

7. Provide continuous delivery of Denodo Platform code.

8. Manage and extend infrastructure-as-code abilities in AWS for building Denodo Platform servers in AWS.

9. Work with engineering teams to perform query optimization in Denodo Platform, diagnose and resolve any technical issues in the code/platform, and setup connections to new data sources as requested.

10. Review and continue building on established best practices around data virtualization.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

1. At least 3 years of experience in development and administration of Denodo Platform.

2. At least 2 years of experience working with various services in the AWS Cloud, including experience with CloudFormation and various Compute/Database/Networking services.

3. At least 2 years of experience in Linux server administration, including writing Shell scripts for automation.

4. Intermediate to advanced level SQL knowledge, and preferably exposure to BI tools like MS PowerBI.

5. Experience with various monitoring/configuration/logging tools like Dynatrace, Catchpoint, Splunk, AWS Cloudwatch, Chef.

6. Good understanding of TLS/SSL and other security concepts to ensure data security is enforced.

7. Knowledge of JDBC, ODBC, XML, JSON and Web Services APIs. Experience building REST data sources in Denodo, and developing views over them.

8. Experience with Git and Jenkins for deployment automation, and knowledge of CI/CD practices.

9. Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills, particularly around data and systems.

10. Experience with working in agile methodology and passion for data engineering.
