About the Role Procurement Engineer (Mechanical Power Plant Projects)
The Procurement Engineer Mechanical is responsible for end-to-end procurement of mechanical equipment, systems, and materials for power plant projects. This includes pumps, piping, valves, HVAC, boilers, turbines, and associated mechanical packages. The role ensures technical compliance, vendor performance, timely delivery, and cost efficiency, supporting uninterrupted project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Procurement & Vendor Management
- Manage procurement of mechanical equipment and materials required for power plant construction and commissioning
- Prepare RFQs/RFPs, evaluate vendors, and finalize technical-commercial offers
- Maintain and manage approved vendor lists and prequalification processes
- Track POs, delivery schedules, and vendor performance, resolving any delays
Technical & Specification Compliance
- Review technical specifications, datasheets, BOMs, and drawings for mechanical packages
- Ensure compliance with project standards, international codes, and client requirements
- Coordinate with design engineers, QA/QC, and site teams for material approvals and inspections
- Support submittals, FATs, and commissioning documentation
Project & Site Coordination
- Work closely with project managers, site engineers, and contractors to align procurement schedules with installation and commissioning plans
- Provide technical guidance for substitutions, alternatives, or value engineering proposals
- Ensure timely availability of critical mechanical materials to prevent project delays
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain procurement records, vendor correspondence, expediting logs, and compliance reports
- Track budgets, cost optimization initiatives, and procurement KPIs
- Ensure compliance with company policies, HSE standards, and audit requirements

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- 510 years of experience in mechanical procurement for power plant, industrial, or EPC projects
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment procurement, and supplier markets
- Experience in UAE / GCC industrial or power plant projects preferred
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of mechanical equipment, piping, valves, HVAC, and rotating machinery
- Proven experience in vendor management, expediting, and contract coordination
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and BOMs
- Excellent communication and coordination skills with vendors, consultants, and site teams
- Proficiency in ERP / procurement software (SAP, Oracle, or similar)
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work in fast-paced, multi-project environments
