Introduction:

• Providing Treasury and business units with projected funding requirements and minimize residual end of day balances through active monitoring and execution.


• Identify and deliver opportunities to optimise our peak liquidity usage intraday in all currencies in order to promote efficient liquidity management


• Monitor & manage liquidity requirements for Barclays International (BI) and Barclays UK (BUK) to enable efficient and timely settlement of payments across our central banks


• Support liquidity requirements across the Group Agent Bank and ICSD network to ensure efficient and timely settlement of cash and securities activity at custodians and correspondent banks

What will you be doing?

• Provide funding projections and actual funding requirements to trading desks, resulting in the most efficient use on Firm cash balances (i.e. invest long positions and cover short positions).


• Cash consolidation and mobilisation across the network of cash and securities linked cash accounts within tight deadlines.


• Funding analysis and investigation - causes of opening balances / costs.


• Partner with related Operations areas to implement best practises across Operations, avoiding repetition of errors, and driving down cost accordingly.


• Support business lines by providing data to identify funding drivers and projection swings


• Build and maintain strong working relationships with related Front Office, Finance, IT and Operations areas


• Identify, own and manage projects/work-streams to optimise peak intraday liquidity usage at numerous Central Banks, Agent Banks and ICSDs around the globe


• Identify initiatives for internal business line efficiencies to improve intraday liquidity management and usage



• Engage with market and regulatory initiatives to assess the intraday liquidity impact to the Firm and communicate/action accordingly


• Organise Stakeholder working groups to prioritise work-streams, provide updates and deliver change/benefit


• When required complete day to day intraday liquidity operational tasks across the Barclays Group. These include, but not limited to:

o Manage Central Bank Reserve Requirements

o Monitor/manage liquidity requirements for Barclays Bank Plc and its entities to enable efficient and timely settlement of payments across our central banks

o Ensure liquidity is available for time critical payments

o Manage routing of payments across payment schemes where appropriate (e.g. T2/EBA)

o Manage large transactions and other client needs

o Ensure throughput targets are met

o Provide end of day projections to the Funding & Short Term Investments team within Treasury in order to achieve efficient end of day settlement for all Group payments

o Analyse and assess 3rd Party Agent Bank and ICSD liquidity management in relation to Barclays’ payments, including identifying & implementing solutions to reduce Barclays’ IDL usage at these institutions

• Produce regular reporting for internal, external or regulatory needs


• Monitor trends on key control and liquidity usage indicators and escalate and work with the line manager to assess root cause & develop plans for reducing exposure where appropriate

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Direct experience of the relevant business lines and processes including liquidity management, treasury, securities, financing, network management and collateral is advantageous though strong knowledge in other areas is applicable.


• Strong business and operational knowledge including understanding what drives liquidity requirements


• Experience driving process reengineering and improvement

• Degree or equivalent, concentrating in Economics or Finance or equivalent experience.
