Introduction:



  • Support the triage and analyse intelligence related to cybercrime threats targeting Barclays customers

  • Work with subject matter experts from the Barclays fraud teams to understand the existing cybercrime threat landscape



What will you be doing?




  • Interpret synergies between pieces of intelligence in order to identify potential changes to the cybercrime threat landscape

  • Identify and disseminate well formulated recommendations to teams across the bank to mitigate loss to the bank and its customers

  • Help to maintain strong relationships with industry partners and law enforcement colleagues to enable Barclays to tackle cybercrime at an industry level

  • Support the team while conducting deep-dive analysis on both successful and near miss fraud cases to draw out cyber-enabled fraud trends and identify required changes to the banks fraud control systems

  • Work together with Cybercrime, Fraud and Financial Crime teams in the analysis of large and often complex datasets linked to cyber-financial cases, in order to generate actionable intelligence and new controls to prevent and detect further attacks against Barclays’ customers.

  • Support the delivery of analysis into cyber threat campaigns, threat actors and threat evolution, placing into context the resulting current and future threat to Barclays.

  • Contribute to the growth of the team’s technical capability and understanding of cyber-enabled fraud by utilising (learning if necessary) suitable tools and analysis.

  • The successful candidate will be expected to respond to internal stakeholder cybercrime requirements, producing appropriate reports and management information for a range of audiences from senior executive level through to all staff.

  • Provide advice and guidance to wider Intelligence team in relation to technical matters as and when required.

  • Support and enhance the operational activity of the Cybercrime team in the monitoring of digital channels to detect cybercrime attacks, by using internally developed systems and industry-wide device profiling and behavioural biometric tools.



What we’re looking for:



  • 1-2 years of experience working in either cyber-fraud intelligence collection & analysis or cyber-enabled fraud investigations or related fields. Ability to normalize and analyse large structured and unstructured datasets including but not limited to cyber data, electronic media and fraud system data in support of cybercrime root cause analysis.

  • Knowledge in the collection of structured and unstructured data, sourcing missing data. Experience in examine, interpret and collect large sets of data. Data extraction and information processing to find patterns and trends, using technology to analyse data.

  • Familiar with descriptive and prescriptive analysis, understanding data and distribution machine learning algorithms regression, clustering, bagging boosting, neural networks, confusion matrix, roc-auc curve, type I and type II errors, association analysis, frequent pattern mining, data mining, critical thinking to build KPIs for analysis based on defined problem.

  • Statistics: probability, confidence interval, hypothesis testing, central limit theorem, t-test, z-test, chi-square and ANOVA

  • Experience of using analytical tools and platforms such as i2, Quantexa, Splunk and SAS. Understanding intelligence analysis processes, including Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) and closed source intelligence gathering, social media analysis, source verification, data fusion and link analysis.



Skills that will help you in the role:




  • Knowledge on ETL process.

  • Knowledge of latest cyber-enabled and cyber-facilitated fraud/scam trends and TTPs used by cybercriminals, including social engineering tactics. Knowledge of malicious tools used by cyber adversaries to target the financial sector including but not limited to eBanking Trojans, POS/ATM malware, mobile malware, webinjects, and phishing kits.

  • Knowledge on fraud detection and prevention systems such as ThreatMetrix and BioCatch.

  • Previous experience of Cyber Threat Intelligence methodologies such as investigative pivoting models, investigative frameworks, as well as MITRE ATT&CK, and the Extended Cyber Kill Chain.

  • Knowledge of the payment card transaction chain and how it is attacked by cybercriminals to facilitate Card Not Present (CNP) fraud.

  • Basic knowledge of security network architectures (e.g. Firewalls, DMZ, proxies, DNS, web and mail servers) and the principles of network security.

  • Familiarity with Python/Perl/Bash scripting and database languages such as SQL.
