Introduction:



The main purpose of the role is to support the growth ambition of the Indian Payments & Cash Management (PCM) business by developing & driving the delivery of a market lending joined up sales and product strategy for the inbound into India PCM portfolio. The incumbent will be expected to structure global payments and cash management deals and deliver leading edge advice through the sale of complex payments, cash management and liquidity solutions.


The individual works closely with Relationship Directors and Global Relationship Directors in identifying inbound into India corridor business opportunities. With the goal of providing clients with best in class payment and cash management solutions to support their financial needs in India. The role will require a strong knowledge of complex cross-border cash management, liquidity and global payment solutions, as well as being a subject matter expert to support product developments with stakeholder management across legal, finance, compliance, etc..


Aligned to the overall India PCM strategy, this role will champion all inbound into India business corridor for cash sales activity;



  • Drive cross-border business development across corporates and non-financial institutions (NBFIs) globally, delivering leading edge cash management advice through the sale of complex cash management and liquidity solutions including currency clearing solutions and global payments.




  • Play an integral part in achieving the Cash income plan through the acquisition of new business in the cash arena and protecting income lines from potential competitor threat.




  • To establish Barclays as one of the market leaders in the field of cash management, aligned to the Corporate Bank transaction banking teams globally.




  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships with valuable key names through effective client planning, to ensure Barclays earnings are maximised from the Cash Management Products. Develop potential new banking business, which will require tailored and competitive pricing, and bespoke integration with our customer’s internal systems, with a view to presenting to and influencing larger business customers both at board and operational levels.




  • Provide introductions to treasury colleagues, as well as other group partners in order to maximise group revenue as a whole.




  • Assist in developing innovative Cash Management solutions for the industry sectors by working closely with our product team.




  • Assist in driving the Cash Management message across the bank as well as externally.




  • Initiate and lead the education process to coach and upskill team members and the network to retain and attract talent into the Cash Sales Specialist arena.



What will you be doing?




  • Business Development – implement a clear business orgination plan/strategy for the India Inbound business with buy in from all key stakeholders


  • Focusing on global clients (both existing and conquest) with financial needs in India, to promote our corporate banking capabilities and be recognised as a trusted advisor, promoting and offering the suite of global Barclays Payments & Cash products.


  • Proactively research customer needs and identify appropriate solutions from the complex Cash Management product set.


  • Building and developing a network within the regions, particularly with ICB and stakeholders globally.


  • Covert relationship leads into sales and maximise opportunities through proactive identification of opportunities


  • Sales & Pipeline management – develop market action and account plans for key clients, pipeline and RFP deal management, strong stakeholder management across verticals


  • Stay abreast of market and regulatory developments, acting as a subject matter expert for further product development


  • Ensure a strong risk discipline, demonstrate prudence, sound judgement and appropriate and timely escalations in the management of all types of risk applicable to the role


  • To own the India P&L for cash across client segments i.e. FI/NBFI & International Corporates.


  • To dive fee income (Money transmission) via collections and payments.


  • To drive Escrow mandates and Trust and Retention Accounts (TRA)


  • To stay abreast of market changes/competitor landscape/regulatory changes


  • Training and Coaching - Assist with the coaching of relationship staff in the research, sale and implementation of core products to customers with relatively straightforward requirements and in lead spotting for cash management products.


  • Actively support marketing and client events.





What we’re looking for:





  • Senior client and deal management skills


  • Proven successful track record of new business development in a large/complex client environment


  • Significant experience in delivering against origination/portfolio growth targets


  • Understanding of various corporate and other transactional banking products and solutions


  • Extensive experience of structuring global payments and cash management solutions


  • Requires an understanding of complex client accounting and Treasury Management operating systems


  • Good awareness and usage of digital/mobile banking products


  • Able to identify, interpret and apply trends in the corporate and PCM banking markets


  • Incisive analytical ability to resolve and minimise credit and legal risk issues


  • Flexible thinking; able to find alternative solutions to those first presented when required by the client


  • Proven experiences of managing a sales team


  • Strong communicator and influencer with proven selling and negotiation skills


  • Team player, ability to work in an agile global environment,


  • Experience in working within a global matrix environment


  • Managing complexity and ambiguity, strong experience of structuring ad hoc solutions


  • Innovative spirit, passion to succeed





Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:





  • 10+ years’ experience working in a business development or sales team


  • Strong knowledge of the Indian corporate and financial markets

  • Experience in sales management; pipeline and stakeholder management


  • Strong commerciality and understanding of relative value of deposits and money transmission
