Lead AI Scientist [T500-14742]

Key Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of large-scale AI solutions, exhibiting excellence in applied science and algorithmic aspects, partnering closely with AI Engineers
• Lead by example, inspire and guide AI Scientists leveraging the best AI algorithms & techniques to solve real business problems benefitting millions of Best Buy customers daily
• Deeply hands on, utilizing extensive knowledge of AI/ML algorithms to contribute to the roadmap of Best Buys core AI capabilities.
• Partner with global cross-functional teams including AI, data, platforms, products, analytics, business and compliance
• Comprehend complex technical and business problems in high pressure scenarios, connecting the larger enterprise goals to teams tactical deliverables.

Basic Requirements

• Masters degree or Ph.D. in a highly quantitative field (Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Math, Operations Research or related) OR equivalent relevant professional experience
• 
  6+ years of deep, hands-on, experience building ML/AI driven products. Advanced degrees in relevant fields may be counted towards experience requirements. Including:
• 3+ years of experience developing real-time ML/AI models with ultra-low latency and high throughput, as resilient, scalable, cloud native services, leveraging deep AI algorithmic background
• 3+ years of experience leading AI research, model reviews, evaluation, and governance
• Applied science algorithmic background with deep, hands-on, experience in one or more of LLMs, Conversational AI, Supervised learning, Unsupervised Learning, Reinforcement Learning, and optimization
• Expert level understanding of Python ecosystem and common AI/ML frameworks (LangChain, TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, Seldon-Core)
• Expert level, hands-on coding expertise in Python and SQL
• Some experience in Cloud preference is GCP preferred, otherwise any

Preferred Requirements

• Experience building ML/AI solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Relevant certifications
• Open-source contributions, published papers or robust GitHub portfolio
