Head - Production Planning & Inventory Control - Sheeting & Towel

Role Purpose :
To lead end-to-end Production Planning, Inventory Control, Material Flow, and Supply Chain Coordination for the Sheeting Business by ensuring optimum production utilization, on-time order fulfillment, inventory optimization, and alignment between sales forecasts, manufacturing, procurement, and dispatch operations.
The role will be responsible for driving operational efficiency, reducing inventory carrying costs, improving OTIF (On-Time In-Full) deliveries, and enabling agile planning for domestic and export businesses.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Responsibilities:

- Drive capacity planning and production scheduling across spinning, weaving, processing, stitching, packing, and dispatch operations.

- Establish robust S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) mechanisms to improve demand visibility and production readiness.

- Lead inventory optimization initiatives to balance customer service levels with working capital efficiency.

- Collaborate with leadership teams to support expansion projects, automation initiatives, and digital transformation in planning systems.
Operational Responsibilities:
Production Planning:

- Prepare short-term and long-term production plans based on sales forecasts, order pipeline, machine capacities, and raw material availability.

- Monitor production schedules and ensure adherence to committed timelines.

- Coordinate with manufacturing teams to optimize machine loading and reduce bottlenecks.

- Ensure smooth alignment between spinning, weaving, processing, and finished goods operations.
Inventory Control:

- Monitor RM, WIP, packing material, and finished goods inventory levels.

- Implement inventory norms, reorder mechanisms, and aging control processes.

- Minimize slow-moving and non-moving inventory through proactive planning.

- Ensure inventory accuracy through periodic audits and system controls.
Order Management & Coordination:

- Coordinate with Sales, Merchandising, Procurement, Logistics, and Plant Operations for seamless execution of customer orders.

- Ensure timely order fulfillment for domestic and export customers.

- Track critical orders and proactively resolve production or supply constraints.
Supply Chain & Process Improvement:

- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in planning accuracy, material flow, and warehouse efficiency.

- Improve OTIF performance and reduce lead times.

- Lead ERP/MRP optimization initiatives for better planning visibility and data accuracy.

- Develop MIS dashboards and analytics for production planning and inventory management.
Team Management:

- Lead and mentor PPIC, warehouse, and planning teams across shifts/functions.

- Build a high-performance planning culture with accountability and operational discipline.

- Ensure effective coordination between cross-functional stakeholders.

Skills & Competencies:

- Strong expertise in Production Planning & Inventory Control within textile/sheeter manufacturing.

- Deep understanding of textile manufacturing processes including weaving, processing, stitching, and packaging.

- Experience in demand planning, capacity planning, and supply chain coordination.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

- Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.

- Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional coordination skills.

- Leadership capability to manage large operational teams.

- Strong data orientation and MIS reporting skills.

- Ability to work in high-volume and fast-paced manufacturing environments.
