Sr. Project Manager (Insurance)

This is a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity with a hybrid schedule requiring 2 days per week onsite in Atlanta, GA.

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and coordinate cross-functional initiatives in the insurance industry. This role is responsible for delivering projects on time, within scope, and within budget. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of insurance operations, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and manage insurance-related projects from initiation to completion
• Define project scope, goals, deliverables, timelines, and resource needs
• Work closely with stakeholders, underwriters, claims teams, compliance, IT, and vendors

• Manage project budgets, schedules, risks, and change requests
• Facilitate regular status meetings and provide clear updates to leadership
• Ensure adherence to regulatory and compliance requirements throughout the project lifecycle
• Identify and mitigate project risks and resolve issues as they arise
• Maintain comprehensive project documentation
• Support post-implementation reviews and continuous improvement efforts

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of project management experience
• 3+ years of experience in the insurance industry
• Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and complex projects

Get Hired
• Strong understanding of insurance operations (claims, underwriting, policy admin, etc.)
• Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
• Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA, Smartsheet, or similar)
• Experience with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid methodologies

Preferred Qualifications

• PMP, or other project management certification
• Experience with insurance software systems (e.g., OneShield, Guidewire, Duck Creek, Applied Systems)
• Familiarity with regulatory standards such as HIPAA, NAIC, or state-specific requirements
