Senior Associate, Data Scientist

Were seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Associateto join our Insights team. This role is located in Pune, Maharashtra- HYBRID

The team is working closely with the Portfolio Managers and Researchers and performing tasks like exposure / risk / performance monitoring, portfolio attribution, running quant models, updating market data, historical analysis of benchmarks & portfolios (demonstrate exposure, annualized / rolling performance and risk, draw-down, IR etc.), monthly reporting etc. Also building / enhancing quant models and running simulations.

The candidate will work on designing databases and ensuring their stability, reliability, and performance. S/He will work on optimizing SQL statements as necessary, establishing best practices, solve all database usage issues and come up with ideas and advice that can help avoid such problems in the future. S/He will work with the Portfolio Managers and Researchers and provide support in all the data related initiatives/projects. The candidate would work on analysis, design and development of next generation strategic tools / APIs to assist the team in their activities. S/He will create dashboards to present the relevant data as necessary for the project.

In this role, youll make an impact in the following ways:

Collaborate with the Portfolio Managers and Researchers to understand the needs and do the following -

• Designing reliable and stable new databases
• Optimizing existing databases and queries and come up with ideas to solve performance / usage issues
• Write Queries / Views / stored procs to extract data and prepare documentation
• Profile server resource usage, and optimize and tweak as necessary
• Handle common database procedures such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc.
• Build extensive tools to reduce manual efforts and increase efficiencies
  • Sourcing, cleaning, and storing raw data.
  • Systematic modelling of derived insights.
  • Generating reports and dashboards to interpret and share results.
• 
  Working with data pipelines including:
• Collaborate with developers / other teams
  1. For example, checking model generation code into Github and version control.
  2. Dashboarding for data democratization (Tableau, plotly), APIs to pull data and various SQL skills.

Good to have:

• Exposure to Python - should be able to interact with SQL through Python
• Pipeline maintenance and robustification
• Front end development/End User interfaces
• Building back-test framework for Global strategies

To be successful in this role, were seeking the following:

• Strong proficiency with SQL and its variation among popular databases
• Knowledge of best practices when dealing with relational databases
• Should be problem-solver self-motivated can-do attitude
• Excellent SQL / Python / Excel / VBA skills
• Nice-to-have: Dashboarding (Tableau / PowerBI / Shiny / Plotly), R, VBA
• Experience with handling / managing large to very-large data sets
• Should be able to channelize daily data sets from vendors and store them in an efficient structure
