Role Overview Principal (Venture Capital Firm)
The principal plays a critical leadership role within the venture capital firm, responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and executing investment opportunities while actively supporting portfolio companies in scaling their businesses. This role combines investment acumen, strategic thinking, relationship management, and operational understanding of startups and emerging markets.
The principal is expected to independently lead investment processes, build strong founder and ecosystem relationships, conduct rigorous due diligence, and contribute to the overall fund strategy and performance. The role also involves working closely with Partners and the Investment Committee to identify high-potential companies and drive long-term value creation across the portfolio.
Responsibilities:
Investment Sourcing:
- Identify and source high-potential startup investment opportunities aligned with the funds thesis.
- Build strong relationships with founders, accelerators, incubators, angel investors, and ecosystem stakeholders.
- Maintain an active pipeline of early-stage and growth-stage companies.
- Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and startup communities.
Investment Evaluation:
- Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and sector mapping.
- Evaluate business models, product-market fit, growth potential, and scalability.
- Analyze startup financials, KPIs, unit economics, and operating metrics.

- Assess founding teams and organizational capabilities.
- Prepare investment memos and present recommendations to the Investment Committee.
Due Diligence & Deal Execution:
- Lead commercial, financial, legal, and operational due diligence.
- Coordinate with legal advisors, consultants, and external diligence partners.
- Support term sheet negotiations and investment structuring.
- Manage end-to-end transaction execution and closing processes.
Portfolio Management:
- Partner with portfolio founders on strategic initiatives and growth planning.
- Monitor portfolio company performance and key business metrics.
- Support fundraising, hiring, partnerships, and market expansion efforts.
- Facilitate introductions to customers, investors, and strategic networks.
- Assist with board preparation and governance processes.

- Contribute to sector theses and investment strategy development.
- Track market trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscapes.
- Develop internal research reports and thematic insights.
- Support fund performance tracking and portfolio reviews.
Stakeholder & Ecosystem Management:
- Build relationships with co-investors, LPs, advisors, and industry leaders.
- Strengthen the firms brand and market presence.
- Mentor junior investment professionals including Associates and Analysts.
- Support ecosystem-building initiatives and founder engagement programs.
Operational & Internal Contributions:
- Improve investment processes, diligence frameworks, and reporting systems.
- Assist in preparing LP updates and fund communication materials.
- Contribute to internal knowledge management and best practices.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration across investment and platform teams.
