Job Details:
Job Summary: Responsible for the preparation of financial statements and related supporting schedules of the larger and more complex Cubic subsidiaries. Maintains or helps to maintain the accuracy of the entity’s related books of record such as the general ledger, fixed asset ledger, cash receipts and disbursements, accounts payable distribution, and travel ledger. This position typically works under general supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains the general ledger of the larger and more complex Cubic subsidiaries
- Prepares monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
- Reviews and approves general ledger account reconciliations and/or journal entries
- Prepares account analyses for management and internal/external auditors
- Compiles and analyzes financial information
- Makes recommendations for improving accounting processes, and assists in implementing accounting policies and procedures
- Assists the Financial Planning & Reporting Manager in the development of junior members of the department
- Facilitate “Lean” principles and creating efficiencies within the department
- Perform other related duties as required
- Four-year college degree in accounting plus a minimum of 5 years of public accounting or general accounting experience, preferably in a government contracting and/or manufacturing environment.
- Chartered Accountant certification and/or MBA preferred. Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and financial reporting requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, SAP and Blackline capability a plus.
- Ability to effectively interface with all levels of personnel, management and external auditors.
- Able to prioritize tasks, handle multiple projects, work under deadlines.
- Exude a can-do attitude and possess a strong dedication to providing quality service to management.
