Property underwriter

The property division of Chubb DIFC focuses on the reinsurance of complex and risk managed insureds, as well as commercially placed business. The division and the branch have seen significant growth, continued profitability, and superior service for many years. These are key priorities for the business, aligned with a focus on meeting the rapidly changing needs and wants of customers in the GCC, Indian Subcontinent and Africa. Sound underwriting judgement and risk selection is imperative. With dedicated market leading experienced professionals, the property division is primed for accelerated growth in the coming years, and we need an underwriter who will excel, to help ensure our success.

Role purpose

The key purpose of the role is to underwrite new and renewal business in support of the business plan objectives for retention and growth.

Key activities of the job holder are:

• Day to day management of the broker/cedent panel and renewal book.
• To underwrite existing renewal accounts, solve broker enquiries and build lasting client relationships.

Get Hired
• Renewal meetings, broker pipeline and general business development activities in support of the continued growth of the product line.
• To work closely with senior managers to assist with broker enquiries and developing new opportunities and relationships.
• To work closely with underwriters in other lines of business in the DIFC branch to maximise cross sell opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with driving the property division business growth and profitability through focussed distribution and marketing activities.
• Underwrite a sustainable balance of business in support of team revenue, profitability, growth and production objectives.
• Maximising opportunities for cross-selling and up-selling within Chubb through internal marketing at cross class meetings and relationship management.
• Develop and manage key external producer relationships.

Qualifications

Skills & experience required

• Comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of property underwriting, reinsurance, the MENA market and competitors.
• Solid experience of dealing with brokers and clients.
• Results driven with ability to make own decisions and work on own initiative.
• An experienced professional who is recognised externally.
• Expected to have or be working towards ACII qualification (or equivalent), with considerable market experience.
• Continues to develop technical and broader business skills.
• Fluent English language skills.
