The GM - API Sales & Business Development will lead API sales strategy and drive revenue growth across regulated markets. The role focuses on expanding market presence, strengthening customer relationships, and identifying new business opportunities, while ensuring alignment with regulatory and commercial objectives.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute global sales strategy for API products across regulated markets such as US, EU, and other ICH regions.
- Drive business development initiatives to acquire new customers and expand existing accounts.- Manage key customer relationships including global pharma companies, generics players, and distributors.
- Develop and implement annual sales plans, forecasts, and pricing strategies to achieve revenue and margin targets.
- Collaborate closely with R&D, Regulatory Affairs, and Supply Chain teams to align commercial strategies with product pipelines.
- Identify new market opportunities, product gaps, and competitive positioning to support portfolio expansion.
- Lead contract negotiations, commercial agreements, and long-term supply arrangements.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory developments impacting API sales.
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing sales and BD team.
- Represent the organization at global industry events, conferences, and client meetings.

Candidate Profile:
- 15 - 20 years of experience in API Sales & Business Development, specifically in regulated markets (US/ EU/ ICH regions).
- Strong track record in API commercial sales (non-CDMO) with proven revenue generation success.
- Deep understanding of regulatory requirements, DMFs, and market entry strategies for APIs.
- Demonstrated experience in managing global clients and strategic accounts.
- Strong negotiation, stakeholder management, and leadership capabilities.
- Experience in working with cross-functional teams in a matrix/ global environment.
