Position Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Manager to lead our Finance Shared Services team, reporting to the Head of Finance Shared Services. This role will primarily focus on overseeing general ledger (GL) accounting functions, including revenue recognition, cost accounting and balance sheet controls. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of accounting principles, with specific experience in general ledger management, financial reporting, and the effective execution of end-to-end accounting processes. Strong leadership and analytical skills, coupled with experience in managing shared services operations, will be key to success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
- Oversee the general ledger accounting operations, ensuring accurate revenue recognition, cost allocations, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness of GL entries, and adherence to accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS), finance policies.
- Perform in-depth analysis of financial data to identify trends, variances, and potential areas for improvement, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger.
- Manage the closing process for monthly, quarterly, and annual periods, ensuring that all journal entries and financial statements are complete and accurate.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Oversee and guide GL-related activities, ensuring smooth collaboration with FP&A and Sub ledger teams (AP/AR/PA/FA)
- Promote a continuous improvement mindset within the team, ensuring operational efficiency and accuracy in GL accounting.
Compliance and Controls:
- Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), IFRS, and relevant regulations in the general ledger accounting functions.
- Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial reporting, specifically around revenue, costs, and balance sheet management.
- Review and approve journal entries and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and drive clearance plan on open items
Process Optimization:
- Assess and improve general ledger accounting processes, implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and ensure the accuracy of financial reporting.
- Work closely with IT and other departments to leverage technology solutions that optimize GL processes and reporting capabilities.
Audit and Tax Support:
- Ensuring all GL documentation and reconciliations are complete and compliant.
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits, Regional Finance teams, Controllership Group

- Assist in tax return preparation and compliance activities, ensuring proper handling of revenue and cost-related accounts and supporting tax filing accuracy.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Act as the key liaison between the accounting team and other finance departments, ensuring alignment on general ledger processes and reporting.
- Communicate key financial insights and updates to senior management, providing recommendations based on comprehensive financial analysis of the GL data.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role, ideally within a shared services environment.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, general ledger management, Interplay with Sub ledger, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems) and Microsoft Excel.
- Track record of handling any major finance projects will be an added advantage.
- Excellent analytical, organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across the wider finance team and other departments.
