Role Overview:

This is not a traditional video editing role.

Were looking for YouTube editors who think beyond timelines and cuts.

Editors who approach every project like a creative partner, not an executor.

People who dont just assemble footage, but actively shape hooks, emotional arcs, narrative flow, and audience retention for YouTube.

If youre looking for rigid workflows, fixed instructions, or a just tell me what to do approach, this may not be the right fit.

What youll actually do

• Take full editorial ownership of YouTube projects - shaping long-form videos, vlogs, docu-series, BTS, EPKs, interviews and more.
• Create maximum retention with every edit by identifying powerful hooks, and make confident judgement calls on pacing, structure, and emotional beats, even when briefs evolve or footage is imperfect.
• Actively contribute to story architecture, audience engagement, and algorithm-friendly storytelling
  
• Own your creative decisions and be ready to stand for your judgement - clearly explaining and articulating to creative producers or partners when needed

Skills & experience (baseline expectations)

  Get Hired
  3-5 years editing long-form YouTube or digital narrative content
• Solid storytelling instincts, especially with A-roll, interviews, vlogs, and narrative-driven formats
• Comfort working with imperfect footage and fast-changing briefs
• Strong understanding of design aesthetics, motion design and sound design,
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
• Comfortable experimenting with Gen AI tools that support ideation, workflow efficiency, and creative enhancement. Tools that we regularly use at Creator Engine are a mix of Higgsfield, Eleven Labs, Runway ML, Midjourney, Gemini, ChatGPT
