Job Description
- Role Overview:
Site Reliability is about combining development and operations knowledge and skills to help make the organization better. If you have a Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or development background and experience in improving the reliability of services/products by adding Observability, Cvent's SRE Observability team can benefit from your skillsets. As a Senior SRE on the SRE Observability team, you will be responsible for helping Cvent achieve its reliability goals. The role requires drive, ownership, and the ability to tackle challenging technical and process-related problems in a dynamic, collaborative, and highly distributed team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enlighten, enable, and empower a fast-growing set of multi-disciplinary teams across multiple applications and locations.
- Tackle complex development, automation, and business process problems while championing Cvent standards and best practices.
- Ensure the scalability, performance, and resilience of Cvent products and processes.
- Collaborate with product development teams, Cloud Automation, and other SRE teams to identify and resolve observability gaps effectively and efficiently.
- Identify recurring problems and anti-patterns in development, operational, and security processes and help build observability for those areas.
- Develop build, test, and deployment automation targeting multiple on-premises and AWS regions.
- Contribute to Open-Source projects.
Qualifications Required:
Must have skills:
- Excellent communication skills and a track record of working in distributed teams.
- Passion for and track record of improving processes for peers.
- Experience managing AWS services and operational knowledge of managing applications in AWS, preferably via automation.
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language like Typescript, Javascript, Python, Ruby, or Bash.
- Experience with SDLC methodologies, preferably Agile.
- Familiarity with Observability (Logging, Metrics, Tracing) and SLI/SLO, working with APM, monitoring, and logging tools (Datadog, New Relic, Splunk).
- Good understanding of containerization concepts such as Docker, ECS, EKS, Kubernetes.

- Self-motivation and the ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Troubleshooting skills and incident response to set a standard for preventing future issues.
Good to have skills:
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like CloudFormation, CDK, and Terraform.
- Experience managing 3-tier application stacks.
- Understanding of basic networking concepts.
- Experience with server configuration through tools like Chef, Puppet, Ansible, or equivalent.
- Working experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Couchbase, Postgres, etc.
- Using APM data for troubleshooting and identifying performance bottlenecks.,
