Azure Cloud Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer with expertise in Microsoft Azure to join our dynamic team. This role involves building and maintaining scalable, secure, and reliable cloud infrastructure that supports both software and data engineering teams. You will work with cutting-edge tools and technologies to optimize cloud environments, streamline automation, and ensure high-quality deliverables. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with essential cloud engineering practices and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful solutions.

Mandatory Skills:

Building Azure Infrastructure: Experience designing, provisioning, and maintaining Azure infrastructure (VMs, App Services, Networking, Storage, etc.).

App Server Management: Proficiency in configuring, managing, and maintaining app servers on Azure.

Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS): Deploying and managing AKS clusters, ensuring efficient orchestration and scaling of containerized workloads.

Supporting Databricks: Experience in supporting Databricks environments for data processing and big data workflows. Alternatively supporting any other data platforms in Azure Cloud e.g. dbt, snowflake

Setting up CI/CD Pipelines: Building and managing continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines using Azure DevOps, specifically for both infrastructure and engineering teams.

Terraform: Strong experience with Terraform for automating the provisioning and management of Azure resources using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC).

Helm Charts: Expertise in managing Kubernetes applications using Helm charts for deploying and scaling services.

API Management: Experience setting up and managing API Management solutions on Azure for secure and scalable API services.

Identity and Access Management (IAM):

Role-Based Access Control (RBAC): Strong experience implementing and managing RBAC policies for Azure resources.

Alerting and Monitoring: Setting up comprehensive alerting and monitoring solutions using tools like Azure Monitor, Datadog, Prometheus, or Grafana to ensure operational excellence.

Cost Optimization: Ability to analyze Azure usage patterns and implement cost optimization strategies, such as scaling, right-sizing, and utilizing reserved instances.

Collaborative Teamwork: Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, data, and DevOps, ensuring alignment on goals and deliverables.

Responsibilities:

Azure Tenant Ownership: Manage and optimize the Azure tenant, ensuring it aligns with organizational goals and best practices.

Infrastructure Automation: Automate cloud infrastructure provisioning and management using Terraform, Bicep, or Pulumi.

CI/CD System Implementation: Build and manage automated CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps, ensuring quick, reliable, and maintainable deployments.

Kubernetes and Helm Management: Deploy and manage AKS clusters, orchestrating services with Helm for optimized deployment and scaling.

Security and Compliance: Implement security best practices across cloud infrastructure, ensuring compliance with internal and external standards.

Cost and Performance Monitoring: Monitor infrastructure performance and implement cost-saving measures using Azure-native and third-party tools.

Collaboration: Work closely with the team to gather requirements, provide technical solutions, and ensure seamless integration and deployment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certifications:

o Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert.

o HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate.

Technical Expertise:

o Experience with GitOps, Helm, and other modern deployment techniques.

o Familiarity with data engineering tools like Databricks, Snowflake, dbt, and Apache Airflow.
