Digital Production / Mastering QC Engineer (Video-audio Editing)

Position Summary

The Mastering Operator is responsible for the creation of mastering source deliverable files. Additionally, the Mastering Operator checks and conforms to the specifications of source materials in preparation for Mastering. Elements handled include images, sound, and subtitles from various source formats for production. Mastering operators use different tool sets to achieve these tasks. Complete ad-hoc project work, perform censor editing, and deliver outputs for new emerging technologies. This entails thorough and accurate accounting through our project management database and other appropriate communication channels. The Mastering Operator communicates production issues to all appropriate parties when necessary.

You bring a good understanding of industry-standard deliverables and downstream specifications. Youre enthusiastic about evolving technologies and adapting these to our clients needs. You will use industry standard and bespoke software to ensure our clients demands are satisfied within their timescales. You are a highly motivated individual and able to work as part of a team. A flexible attitude is desired as additional tasks, overtime, and weekend work may be required. This role reports to the Manager of Mastering.

Outcomes and Accomplishments

Quality Control (QC) Review: Youll assess QC reports, address identified issues, and ensure the content aligns with master file specifications.

Video Compliance: Youll handle video compliance across different territories, adhering to censorship guidelines and statutory warnings.

Editing and Conformance: Youll perform various levels of editing and conformance to match the intended audience.

Technical Skills: Experience with Non-Linear Editing (NLE) and transcoding software in a post-production environment is required, with the ability to learn new systems in a relatively short period of time, including but not limited to Adobe Premiere, R&S Clipster, Colorfront Transkoder, Da Vinci Resolve, ATEME, Elemental, Rhozet, Digital Rapids, Vantage, AVISynth, FFMpeg, Dolby Vision Professional Tools, Baton, GrayMeta Iris, XML editors.

Familiarity with UHD, HDR, IMF, DCP, JPEG2000, AVC, and HEVC along with a general understanding of video levels, color space, and compression. And proficiency in Mac and PC operating systems are essential. Additionally experience with various text formats (e.g., itt, srt, scc, vtt) and perform complex conformance sync of closed captions and subtitles to final video files using tools like Mac Caption, and EZ title.

What You Bring:

In-depth and working knowledge of video and audio theory, digital file codecs, wrappers, frame rates, and conversions

Familiarity with industry standards and audio technologies (e.g., Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision, HDR+, HDR10+, HLG).

Knowledge of Transkoder/ Clipster

Attention to detail and strong communication skills.

Be a self-motivator with the ability to make decisions independently.

Ability to organize, prioritize and orient with detail.
