Manager - Tax - BFSI - Big4

The Manager IFSC FPI Tax will be responsible for managing tax advisory, compliance, and structuring support for Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs), funds, and investment vehicles operating through IFSC. The role involves end-to-end tax management, client advisory, regulatory interpretation, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

FPI & IFSC Tax Advisory

- Interpret and apply provisions of the Income-tax Act, IFSC regulations, SEBI FPI Regulations, and DTAA

- Advise on capital gains, interest, dividend taxation, withholding tax, and tax residency issues

- Support structuring of investments through IFSC entities to optimize tax efficiency

Compliance & Filings

- Oversee tax compliance for FPIs including:

- Income tax returns

- Withholding tax computations

- Form 15CA/CB

- Advance tax and tax provisioning

- Ensure compliance with IFSC-specific tax exemptions and incentives

Client & Stakeholder Management

- Act as primary point of contact for key FPI and fund clients

- Prepare and review technical tax memos, opinions, and client presentations

- Handle tax authority queries, notices, and assessments

- Coordinate with legal, regulatory, and operations teams

Team & Project Management

- Manage, mentor, and review work of junior team members

- Ensure timely delivery and quality control across engagements

- Support business development initiatives and proposal drafting

Qualifications & Experience:

- Chartered Accountant (CA). Also willing to look at other qualifications but with corresponding higher years of relevant experience

- 5-8 years of post-qualification experience (For CAs) and 10+ (for Non CAs) in:

- FPI taxation

- Fund tax / international tax

- IFSC or cross-border investment structures

- Prior experience in Big 4 / large tax consulting firms / fund administration companies

- Exposure to GIFT City / IFSC tax framework

- Experience handling global clients and multi-jurisdictional tax issues

Technical Skills:

Strong knowledge of:

- Income-tax Act (India)

- SEBI FPI Regulations

- IFSC Authority regulations

- DTAA interpretation

Working knowledge of fund structures (AIFs, FPIs, offshore funds)

Excellent drafting and technical documentation skills

Soft Skills:

Strong client-facing and communication skills

Ability to manage multiple engagements independently

Commercial mindset with attention to detail

Leadership and team management capability
