Job Description
Day- to-day operations:
- To lead and manage all contract-management, commercial, and legal matters for large-scale EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) projects in a oil and gas or renewable energy projects. The role ensures contracts are negotiated, administered, and executed such that risks are mitigated, obligations fulfilled, and value realised for the organization.
- Lead the full contract lifecycle: drafting, negotiation, award, administration, variations, claims, extensions of time, terminations and close-out in EPC / drydocks context.
- Interpret and apply contract terms and conditions (client contracts, subcontracts, vendor agreements) to ensure compliance and protect company interests.
- Manage prime contracts and major subcontracts for EPC works, with particular focus on fabrication, new build, conversion & offshore modules (ship/rig) typical in drydock environment.
- Prepare, review and administer variation orders, claims for extensions of time, cost claims, contract change notices and contractual correspondence.
- Provide contractual advice and support to project teams, procurement, legal and finance, regarding rights, obligations, liabilities, guarantees, indemnities and remedies.
- Establish and maintain contract records, logs, dashboards and risk register; monitor contract performance (milestones, scope, deliverables, exposures) and report to senior management.
- Review and advise on bank guarantees, parent company guarantees, letters of credit and other financial securities associated with contracts.
- Interface with procurement and commercial teams to develop contract strategies, standard contract templates, and ensure procurement contracts align with project demands and company policy.
- Lead dispute avoidance and resolution processes: early identification of contract issues, coordinating with legal counsel, supporting arbitration/litigation as required.
- Mentor, develop and manage the contracts team (contract administrators/ engineers) to build competency and support project delivery in the drydocks/EPC environment.
- Drive continuous improvement of contract management processes, systems and best practice in the context of largescale marine/offshore EPC/fabrication works (e.g., for offshore platforms, rigs, module fabrication).
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, policies and internal procedures (for example marine/offshore construction, fabrication, statutory inspections) and alignment with the companys business strategy (e.g., as an EPC contractor/fabricator)
