Quality Engineer - Aerospace

Job Summary &Essential Functions:
Support quality for currentand future manufacturing requirements and determine the most effective methodsto improve productivity through the management of people and technology.
Essential Functions:
  • Review and analysis of the customer PO to assure compliance.
  • Requires collaboration and coordination with other functional groups as well as weekly progress updates to communicate status of open action items.
  • Assist cross functional teams in problem investigations.
  • Recommend more efficient and quality-oriented processes in support of continual improvement
  • Provide support to manufacturing including root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions to resolve problems in product manufactured.
  • QA representative at meetings as required.
  • Facilitate customer corrective actions request(CAR) responses.
  • Data mining for trend analysis of defects and Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
  • Assist with Annual Internal Audits and Product Process Audits to ensure compliance.
  • Assist in defining and monitoring the quality management system and in developing an organizational culture that stresses quality processes.
  • Perform other assignments as required.
  • Assist in monitoring personnel and processes to ensure compliance with company guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Update area supervision regarding concerns.
  • Assist and support other special projects and tasks as necessary.

Skills & Qualifications
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic manufacturing and assembly processes together with work measurement and work standards.

  • Proficient in technical writing, good documentation skills; attention to detail is critical; ability to read and interpret engineering drawings required.
  • Demonstrated analytical expertise including ability to plan, resolve problems effectively, and establish priorities.
  • Understanding of DOE, 6-Sigma, Lean Manufacturing desired.
  • Intermediate level of computer skills in email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Microsoft Project and MRP/ERP.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with customers and project company image to attract business.
  • Negotiation and conflict management skills together with demonstrated experience troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently and adapt within a rapidly changing environment.
Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications:
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 2 years experience in maintaining production and inventory control standards in a manufacturing setting.
  • Prior experience with ISO or AS environments a plus.
  • ITAR/EAR Compliance: This position requires access to export-controlled information and/or hardware, and candidates must be U.S. Persons that comply with all U.S. Export control laws and regulation. As such, U.S. citizenship, U.S. lawful permanent resident status, protected person status under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or the ability to meet ITAR and EAR requirements is required.
