Job Description

We are seeking a highly driven and experienced Area Sales Manager (ASM) to manage and grow our FMCG sales operations in the Baroda region. The ASM will be responsible for driving secondary and tertiary sales, managing the distributor network, leading a team of sales representatives, and achieving monthly/quarterly/annual sales targets.


Key Responsibilities:


Sales Target Achievement:

- Drive primary, secondary, and tertiary sales targets for the assigned area.

- Analyze sales trends and implement strategies to increase market share and revenue.


Channel & Distribution Management:

- Appoint, manage, and optimize performance of distributors and stockists.

- Ensure proper stock rotation, availability, and timely order fulfillment.

- Monitor credit limits and payment collections from distributors.


Team Management:

- Lead, coach, and manage a team of Sales Officers / Territory Sales In-Charges.


- Conduct regular field visits to support and guide the team on market execution.


Market Development:

- Identify new market opportunities and develop plans to penetrate rural and urban markets.

- Expand outlet coverage and improve product visibility at the retail level.


Retail Execution:

- Ensure proper execution of trade promotions, merchandising, and point-of-sale activities.

- Monitor competitor activity and provide actionable insights.


Reporting & Analysis:

- Maintain and analyze sales data, prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports.

- Provide feedback and insights to senior leadership on market dynamics.


Key Requirements:

- Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (MBA preferred).

- Alternate: Minimum 5-8 years of experience in FMCG sales with proven team and territory management.

- Strong understanding of the Baroda/Gujarat FMCG market and distribution network.

- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.

- Proficient in MS Office and sales reporting tools.

- Fluent in English, Hindi, and Gujarati (preferred).

- Achievement of sales volume and value targets

- Growth in outlet coverage and productivity

- Distributor ROI and health metrics

- Team performance and attrition rates

- Execution of market activities and planograms
