Job summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our municipal water and wastewater projects design team. The successful candidate will lead and contribute to the electrical design of Municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, and distribution / collection networks. This role involves the full project lifecycle, from conceptual design and feasibility studies to detailed engineering, procurement support, and construction assistance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the Municipal water/wastewater sector and possess strong leadership and technical skills.

Key accountabilities:

Technical Design and Engineering:

• Experience to basic and detailed engineering of Electrical works.
• Lead and deliver detailed electrical design packages for water treatment plants, sewage treatment plants, and pumping stations.
• Act as the technical authority for LV/MV power distribution, protection, lighting, earthing, and automation systems.
  
• Ensure design compliance with Indian (CEA, IS, BIS, CERC) and international standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC, NFPA, BS, EN).
• Prepare SLDs, load lists, load flow analysis, short circuit studies, and protection coordination using software such as ETAP/DIALux.
• Design substations, LV/MV transformers, LV/MV switchgear, MCCs, DG sets, UPS, Battery & Battery Chargers, cabling, earthing, and lightning protection systems.
• Develop electrical layouts including power distribution, cable routing, lighting, and control system integration.
• Perform cable sizing, voltage drop, fault level, and energy efficiency calculations.
• Integrate electrical designs with SCADA, PLC, and instrumentation systems for automation of municipal water/wastewater facilities.
• Prepare BOQs, technical specifications, datasheets, tender documents, cost estimates and other design deliverables like RFQ.
• Review technical documents, vendor drawings/offers and ensure equipment compliance with project specifications and standards.
• Prepare technical offer evaluation of various vendors.
• Conduct internal design reviews, value engineering, and ensure constructability of designs.
• Provide technical inputs for FEED, detailed design, and EPC stages.

• Liaise with clients, contractors, and statutory bodies for design approvals and inspections.
• Conduct site visits to verify design implementation and resolve technical issues.
• Incorporate safety, reliability, energy efficiency, and sustainability in design.
• Stay updated with changes in national and international codes and implement best practices.
• Knowledge of HAZOP study and Hazardous area classification.
• Support tendering, bid evaluation, and provide technical recommendations to clients.
• Utilize and oversee the use of 2D and 3D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Plant 3D, Navisworks Manage) for the development of plant general arrangement and cable tray layout drawings.
• Should have Technical Report writing skills.
• Should have excellent knowledge of using MS Excel, MS Word, PPT, Auto CAD.
• Knowledge of 2D and 3D drafting software such as AutoCAD, REVIT and Open Plant Modeler preferred.

Project and team leadership:

• Coordinate electrical design with multidisciplinary teams including process, mechanical, Civil, structural, and instrumentation.
• Collaborate with project managers to develop project scopes, deliverables, schedules, and budgets, and ensure projects are executed on time and within budget.
• Act as a primary point of contact for municipal clients effectively communicating project updates and design concepts.
• Conduct value engineering and whole-life cost analyses to recommend the most cost-effective and sustainable solutions for municipal assets.
• Meeting with Client and other stakeholders to get approval of the design, drawings and all other technical documents required to complete the project smoothly.
• Able to adopt cost effective / cost saving design.
• Capable of handling a team of 6 to 8 engineers/draftsman.
• Guiding and mentoring engineering /CAD team for quality delivery.
• Mentor and supervise junior engineers, ensuring quality and accuracy of deliverables.
