As Legal Counsel, you will report directly to the Global Head of Legal (UK) with a matrix reporting into India Managing Director

Negotiating, drafting and reviewing commercial agreements with clients, merchants, suppliers and any other party the Company may have agreements with.

Advising on legal aspects of issues encountered by the Company.

Ensuring compliance with all applicable local laws and regulations in addition to Group policies, including but not limited to, voucher related regulations, payment regulations, AML, anti-fraud, personal data protection and employment law in the operations of the Company.

Managing litigation, consumer complaints and law or regulatory enforcement investigations.

Implementing a comprehensive contract and litigation management system.

Providing sound and timely legal advice to business units.

Preparing and delivering training to internal stakeholders on key legal topics, policies and procedures.

Developing and implementing processes to analyse and mitigate legal risk.

Managing external counsel and Legal budget.

Supporting the strategic direction of the Company and the Group Corporate Legal on projects and initiatives that may be allocated from time to time, including, but not limited to, M&A projects.

Key Challenges

With the introduction of new laws and regulations in an ever-changing legal landscape, you will be expected not only to keep abreast with such changes, but also advise internal stakeholders of the impact on the business in a timely manner.

As the business grows, exceptional prioritisation and time management abilities to balance the workload are essential.

Collaboration with the peer managers and business partners, within India and Globally

Bachelors degree in Law

15+ years of post-qualification legal experience, either within a law firm and in-house.

In-depth knowledge of the legal and business environment in India.

Experience in Engagement, Payment and/or IT industry is preferred.

Must have executive presence, composure, and strong influencing abilities.

Self-starter, highly organized, and able to deliver clear, business-oriented legal advice in a simple form in a fast-paced atmosphere is required.

Proven track record of excellent judgment, analytical ability, critical thinking, negotiating and risk management skills are required.

Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills (including verbal and written English), with a solid track record of building productive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Attention to detail is essential.

Ability to work under pressure and meet competing deadlines.

Experience in negotiation, dispute resolution, litigation and managing external counsels.

High degree of integrity and professional accountability.
