University of Aberdeen Mumbai Campus Governance and Leadership Structure
The University of Aberdeen Mumbai Campus operates as University of Aberdeen Mumbai Campus Private Limited, a joint venture between the University of Aberdeen and its India-based partner. The Academic Provost will play a pivotal role in establishing and leading the senior academic management team at the Mumbai Campus, working closely with the Chief Business Officer (CBO) to ensure strategic alignment and preparations for the Mumbai Campus launch in August 2026.
All academic staff at the University of Aberdeen Mumbai Campus will report directly to the Academic Provost, who serves as the line manager for all academic posts. The Academic Provost provides academic leadership and ensures alignment with the University of Aberdeens standards and strategic objectives.
Governance: The UOA Mumbai Campus will have a three-tier governance model: a Strategic Board for high-level oversight, a Management Committee for daily campus management, and three Working Groups—Academic, Operations, and Finance—to ensure academic quality, operational efficiency, and financial accountability.

Collaboration and Quality Assurance
Academic Staff Will

• Collaborate with the Academic Provost, Heads of Schools in Aberdeen, Aberdeen-based Programme Directors and Committees to ensure programme alignment, quality assurance and academic integrity
• Engage with the University of Aberdeens Academic Services and Global Engagement, Marketing and Recruitment (GEMR) teams for quality assurance, governance and compliance.
• Support the implementation of academic structures and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  

Aberdeen Campus Academic Governance : At the University of Aberdeen, academic governance is structured around the University Court and the Senatus Academicus (Senate). The Court oversees strategic direction, finances, and legal responsibilities, while the Senate governs teaching, research, academic standards, and degree conferral. Supporting these core bodies, the Quality Assurance Committee (QAC) ensures the quality and enhancement of teaching and learning through rigorous oversight. The Programme Management Committee (PMC) manages academic programme development and changes, ensuring alignment with institutional strategy and regulatory compliance.

The primary purpose of this role is to contribute to the delivery of high-quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate Computing Science programmes at the University of Aberdeens Mumbai Campus, while actively engaging in research aligned with the Universitys strategic focus on Data and Artificial Intelligence. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate across disciplines and with industry, contributing to the Universitys Aberdeen 2040 research vision. Applicants with research expertise in areas such as autonomous agents, natural language generation and computational linguistics, machine learning, AI in education, generative AI, cybersecurity, human-centred computing and related fields are especially encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Administrative

• To contribute to the design, development, delivery, assessment, and administration of undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered.
• To provide academic supervision for undergraduate dissertations and MSc. project work.
• To supervise and support students directly, identifying learning needs, defining learning objectives, and maintaining a high standard of academic guidance and mentorship.
• To engage with innovative, inclusive, and modern pedagogical approaches, implementing best practices in university teaching and learning.
• To contribute to ongoing curriculum enhancement, ensuring alignment with international academic standards, research advancements, and evolving industry needs.
• To undertake academic and administrative duties as assigned by your academic line manager.
• To participate actively in the development and delivery of the Schools strategic and operational objectives.
  

Research

• To conduct cutting-edge research in field of Computing Science closely related to our core research and interdisciplinary research strengths within agent-based research, machine learning, cybersecurity and privacy, natural language generation, human-centred computing and data science.
• Develop collaborative research links with our academic staff in our home campus in Aberdeen.
• To prepare and submit manuscripts for publications in leading international conferences and journals.
• To prepare and submit grant applications for externally funded research support.

Candidate Background

• Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field, with a minimum of 2–10 years of academic and/or industry experience, including significant contributions to both undergraduate and postgraduate education.
• Proven ability to design, develop, and deliver high-quality course materials in Computing Science, demonstrating pedagogical effectiveness and curriculum alignment.
• Track record of teaching excellence at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with the ability to engage, inspire, and support diverse student cohorts.
• Active engagement with subject-specific pedagogic research or educational networks, reflecting a commitment to continuous improvement and evidence-based teaching practices.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and contribute effectively to departmental and institutional goals.
• Evidence of high-quality research outputs, evidenced by conference and journal papers in internationally leading venues.
• Be able to demonstrate the ability to develop a high-quality research
