About the School:
We are currently looking for a Senior Network Engineer with CCNP certification to manage, maintain, and improve our complex network infrastructure. As part of our managed services offering, this role will also involve ensuring reliable network operations and providing high-level support, troubleshooting, and service delivery for the schools IT infrastructure, including Veeam Backup, Windows Server.
Role Overview:
As the Senior Network Engineer, you will oversee and manage the schools network infrastructure, including design, implementation, and maintenance of Cisco based systems. In addition, you will be responsible for managing the Veeam Backup system for backup of all the data, configurations, and database. Your key responsibility will be providing Managed Network & Server Services for the school, ensuring high uptime, performance, and security for both academic and administrative operations. Furthermore, you will be tasked with managing a transition process where knowledge transfer from the outgoing senior team member may be challenging. Your ability to proactively manage this situation and ensure seamless continuity is crucial for the success of this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Managed Services Delivery: Provide comprehensive managed services for the schools network infrastructure, ensuring the seamless operation of network services (LAN, WAN, campus networks, network equipment, devices and software). This includes monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, and proactive problem resolution to meet service level agreements (SLAs).
Network Design, Implementation, and Management: Design, configure, and maintain advanced Cisco based network infrastructure to ensure high availability, security, and performance across all campus locations.
Network Troubleshooting and Optimization: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve network performance issues, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to operations. Provide 24/7 support as required by the service contract.
Veeam Backup and Maintenance: Manage and maintain Veeam Backup systems for all environments, ensuring regular backups of critical virtual machines. Perform regular backup tests, monitor backup integrity, and resolve any issues related to the backup process to ensure reliable data recovery.
Manage and maintain Windows Servers and Virtual Machines (VmWare & HyperV)
Transition Management: Lead the transition process from the senior engineer who is leaving, managing the handover of key responsibilities, systems, and knowledge. Overcome any challenges in communication and knowledge gaps during this period and ensure continuity of managed services.
Documentation and Reporting: Develop and maintain detailed documentation on all network systems, configurations, and service procedures. Provide regular reports on network performance, incidents, and improvements to internal stakeholders.
Security Management: Implement and monitor network security protocols, conduct vulnerability assessments, and maintain security measures in compliance with the schools IT policies.
Vendor Management: Manage relationships with third-party vendors and service providers for network equipment, troubleshooting, and upgrades.
Collaboration with IT Teams: Work closely with other departments (systems administrators, database managers, etc.) to integrate network services with other IT services across the school.
Project Management: Manage and support network-related projects, including upgrades, migrations, and expansion projects. Ensure that all projects meet deadlines, budgets, and quality standards.
Training and Mentorship: Mentor and train junior network engineers, helping build in-house expertise while promoting knowledge sharing across the team.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
CCNP Certification (Cisco Certified Network Professional) is mandatory; CCIE certification is a plus.
At least 5 years of experience in network engineering with a focus on Cisco technologies.
Strong expertise in network management

Hands-on experience with Windows Server Configuration, Troubleshooting, Pacth Management.
Hands-on experience with VMware environments, including Veeam Backup for virtualized systems and maintenance of virtual machines.
In-depth knowledge of Cisco switches, routers, and related Cisco products and Cisco network devices.
Hands-on experience with LAN/WAN technologies, routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP), and network security practices.
Proven ability to manage complex transitions and knowledge handovers, particularly when transitioning responsibilities from an outgoing senior colleague who may be unavailable for full support.
Experience with managed services and maintaining service level agreements (SLAs) for network uptime, security, and performance.
Strong experience in creating and managing network documentation, including system configurations, troubleshooting guides, and service reports.
Excellent communication skills to engage with internal teams, external vendors, and manage stakeholder expectations during transitions.
Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities while ensuring that all network services are delivered according to SLAs.
Desirable Skills:
Experience with network automation tools like Ansible or Python is highly desirable. Familiarity with cloud network services, hybrid environments, and SD-WAN technologies.
Proficiency in using network monitoring tools like SolarWinds, Nagios, or other similar platforms to ensure proactive network management.
Project management skills or certifications (e.g., PMP, ITIL).
Experience working in an education environment or other similar sectors is beneficial.
