Introduction To The Team
Were the Checkout team at Expedia Group. Our work spans multiple domains and teams across the company, driving large-scale technology initiatives that power travel booking and purchases. Expedia Group is on a mission to modernize and unify its traveler checkout platform by bringing together brand-specific systems, like Expedia.com, Hotels.com, and Vrbo, into a single, shared UI platform known as Modern Checkout.
This effort will simplify and standardize our checkout experiences, cutting down on build time, cost, and duplication, while enabling us to deliver consistent optimizations and a faster, easier booking experience for travelers at scale.
In This Role, You Will
- Build, test, and maintain responsive user interfaces that deliver clear, intuitive, and performant experiences across devices and platforms.
- Implement UX designs in close partnership with designers, product managers, and service engineers, translating requirements and flows into robust, production-quality UI code
- Contribute to shared UI patterns, components, and design system assets to drive consistency, reuse, and fungibility of user experience solutions across multiple products and domains
- Use front-end engineering best practicesincluding accessibility, performance optimization, observability, and automated testingto ensure reliable, high-quality user experiences in production
- Safely integrate and operate AI/ML?enabled and AI?assisted UX solutions that improve customer outcomes, and demonstrate familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and documentation to continuously improve the quality, maintainability, and operability of user experience features and services
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- 2+ years of relevant professional experience
- Professional experience implementing and supporting production user interfaces or front-end features as part of a software engineering team, with ownership of features or services within a product area
- Proficiency with modern front-end technologies and patterns (for example, JavaScript/TypeScript, component-based frameworks, API integration, and client-side data handling) and with core UI-layer system design considerations
- Experience working with cross-functional partners (design, product, and back-end engineering) to ship user-facing capabilities from requirements through launch and iteration

- Experience building and evolving reusable UI components and integrating with design systems to support multiple products, flows, or platforms
- Demonstrated impact improving performance, accessibility, and reliability of user interfaces using metrics, experimentation, or user feedback to guide decisions
- Experience contributing to front-end architectural decisions, such as state management approaches, API consumption patterns, or testing and release strategies for UI code
- Hands-on experience integrating AI/ML?powered capabilities into user experiences (for example, personalization, recommendations, assistance, or generative features), including safely integrating and operating AI/ML?enabled solutions that improve outcomes
- Experience using AI-assisted development or design tools in day-to-day UI engineering workflows to accelerate iteration while maintaining quality and usability
