What does a successful Mainframe Datacom (Network) System Engineer do

As a Mainframe Datacom (Network) System Engineer at Fiserv, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of our Network environments. You will work closely with application developers, system administrators, and other IT teams to ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of our Network systems to meet business requirements effectively.

What you will do:

• Configure, debug, and maintain TCPIP and VTAM subsystems configurations.
• Install, upgrade, and maintain VTAM, TCPIP, OSA, and related products on the mainframe.
• Implement AT-TLS rules and IPSEC policies.
• Secure encrypted data transfers (NDM, SFTP, and FTP/TLS).
• Perform TCPIP trace analysis - IP, Socket, OSA adapter, SNA, EE.
• Interface with operations and provide 12X5 Oncall support.
  
• Configure printers, FTP, SMTP, SNMP, and network management software (NetView and NPM).
• Support file transfer software (TCP/IP FTP, Netview FTP, and Connect: Direct) and session management software (CA-TPX, CA-Solve Access and Candle Super Session).
• Manage printing software (InfoPrint server and LRS VPS) and support NCP and NPSI/X25.
• Analyze network performance and perform tuning techniques.

What you will need to have:

• 14+ years of experience as an IBM Mainframe specialist (z Series) focusing on network technologies.
• Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field and/or equivalent military experience.
• Proven experience as a Mainframe Network System Engineer, with deep understanding of VTAM/TCPIP architecture.
• Proficiency in network administration tools and utilities such as NDM, SOLVE, Netview.
