Solution Analyst

Who are we:

Requirements

• To conduct system analysis, in order to meet business and technical requirements, for the development and implementation of information systems


• To manage the relationship with key business stakeholders and technical colleagues to investigate, analyze and assess business options within the University in order to design solutions for effective development and system implementation


• To provide advice and support for projects related to the procurement, implementation, customization and rollout of new information systems


• To contribute and conduct evaluation of technical and non-functional requirements in relationship to procurement of new systems and enhancements or modifications to existing systems


• Produce architecture, solution design documents and associated artefacts for projects


• Provide cost benefit Analysis on how the University can best leverage the investment in Corporate Systems to deliver projects and achieve business process improvements and lower cost per transaction


• To liaise with other staff and teams in Computing & Library Services, such as Business Improvement, Networks, Infrastructure, 2nd Line Support and IT Support, regarding hardware and infrastructure requirements for the implementation, maintenance and support of information systems


• To participate in data quality and security initiatives to ensure high quality secure data in all systems supported by the team and advice on quality and security in other areas


• To ensure all options/solutions have received the correct level of scrutiny and authorization prior to recommending a solution to a customer


• Investigate faults, implement and test solutions in liaison with colleagues


• To deliver change by providing customer support and training, with accompanying documentation


• To deliver solution designs that allow the development of processes for timely and appropriate access to data


• Participate in planning the implementation of third party systems, including upgrades


• Conduct market scanning to identify trends, products, systems and associated technologies that could be exploited to provide cost effective and innovative solutions


• Act as solutions expert for identified internal applications, and share knowledge as appropriate


• Generate high quality reports, or assist others to produce reports, from systems supported by the team


• To undertake any other duty pertinent to the grade of the post that may be requested at any time

• Demonstrable experience in designing and implementing new IT solutions; enabling seamless integration of key business systems following the principles of Service Oriented Architecture
  


• Experience of working with customers, senior colleagues and technical specialists
  


• Experience researching and evaluating emerging technologies, including both hardware and software
  


• 
  Experience working with project teams in understanding possible technologies that are feasible for providing a solution
  


• Experience in producing documentation types, such as, solution design/specification documents, guidelines and manuals
  


• Experience in running training sessions and workshops on new system design and architecture

Desirable Experience

• 
  Experience in project management
  


• Experience of working in a Higher Education institution
  


• Experience of working with one or more of the following: Tribal SITS, Agresso (UNIT 4), Scientia Timetabling, Office 365, Dynamics CRM, SharePoint
  


• Experience of working with Microsoft Azure stack

Qualifications/Training

• 
  Educated to degree level in a Computing or Numerate based discipline, or equivalent experience
  


• Current certification in IT related products and/or service or demonstrates a commitment to self-development and improvement
  


• Committed to gaining further professional qualifications, education and training
  


• Current Certification in TOGAF to at least foundation level
  


• Current certification in ITIL service management, to at least foundation level.
  


• Current certification in APM or equivalent, fundamentals of project management.
