Machinist - Tool Room

Role & responsibilities

• Interpret and understand complex engineering drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
• Set up and operate horizontal and vertical Jig Boring machines independently.
• Perform precise boring, reaming, drilling, and counter boring of components to tight tolerances (typically within 5-10 microns).
• Select appropriate tools, speeds, and feeds based on material and finish requirements.
• Conduct in-process checks using precision instruments (micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, dial indicators).

• Maintain proper documentation of dimensional inspection reports.
• Coordinate with Tool Designers and CNC programmers for tooling corrections or improvements.
• Follow safety protocols and ensure housekeeping around the machine.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance on jig boring machines.
• Collaborate with QC/QA teams for part approval and continuous improvement.

Preferred candidate profile

• Proficient in Jig Boring Machine operations (mechanical or CNC-type).
• Sound knowledge of materials: tool steel, hardened steel, aluminium.
• Able to work with tight tolerances (0.005 mm).
• Skilled in using precision instruments.
• Basic knowledge of CNC jig boring or coordinate boring (if applicable).
• Team player with good communication skills.
