Job Description

Position: Manager - Modern Trade

Role: Key Account Manager (KAM - Modern Trade)

Location: Mumbai, BKC

Experience: 8-12 years


Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Manager - Modern Trade to lead and grow our Modern Trade business. The role will be responsible for managing key national and regional MT accounts, driving revenue growth, strengthening customer relationships, and ensuring flawless execution across accounts.


Key Responsibilities

Key Account Management & Development

- Manage and grow large Modern Trade key accounts such as Reliance Retail, D-Mart, and other MT chains.

- Own end-to-end account responsibility including sales targets, revenue growth, and profitability.


- Develop account-wise business plans and growth strategies aligned with organizational objectives.


- Lead negotiations on commercials, margins, promotions, listings, and annual agreements.

Relationship Management

- Build and maintain strong relationships with buyers, category managers, and senior stakeholders at MT accounts.

- Act as the primary point of contact for assigned key accounts.


- Ensure smooth coordination between internal teams (supply chain, finance, marketing) and customers.


- Proactively address and resolve operational issues related to supply, claims, and reconciliations.

Execution & Visibility

- Drive effective execution of promotions, visibility initiatives, and in-store activations.

- Ensure timely implementation of promotional calendars and product launches.


- Monitor competitor activity and provide market insights to management.

Reporting & Analysis

- Track sales performance, forecasts, and KPIs for assigned accounts.


- Prepare MIS reports, sales reviews, and performance analysis for senior management.


- Identify opportunities for range expansion, distribution improvement, and business optimization.


Mandatory Requirement

- Proven experience in handling 2-4 large Modern Trade key accounts, preferably Reliance Retail and other leading MT chains.


Skills & Competencies

- Strong negotiation, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.


- Deep understanding of Modern Trade business dynamics.


- Excellent analytical, planning, and execution capabilities.


- Strong communication and cross-functional coordination skills.


Qualifications

- Graduate / MBA in Sales & Marketing preferred.


- 8-12 years of experience in Modern Trade / Key Account Management.


- FMCG / Consumer Goods industry experience preferred.
